Hopefully it's something else, but I bet it isn't
I have no idea of the condition of the cats, but I've had my fair share of head gaskets fail and usually the exhausts are full of coolant, so I might pull the exhaust after the cats and have a look.
It's so strange tho, I had an alfa Romeo with a dead gasket and it had completely filled cylinder 1 with coolant. But when it was running there was literally no smoke, just ran terribly. Why is this engine super smokey?
And yeah that's why I'm going to try take the exhausts of post cat, that will let me see which bank is messing up

When you fill the radiator you need to bleed all the air out of the system otherwise "hot spots" may occur. Remove the 17mm plug near the thermostat, run the car and fill with water thru this hole(heater full on) after the engine is warm, and no more water can be added , put the plug in a couple of turns and let the engine continue to run until you get a steady stream of coolent coming out, no air ,then tighten it

for the cams to be that far out, some one has taken them out for a reason, have you thought about asking the previous owner what mech work he has done to it and why?

Tom richards- i had bled the coolant system but i did it via the overflow bottle, it came out slightly foamy, indication of gasket leaking compression and foaming the coolant??
Paul Drane- thats what i figured, the cams must have been previously removed, and the previous owner was not mechanically inclined, she bought the car from an elderly gentlemen but never touched or drove it as it leaked coolant (Welch plugs)
Dave rose- Yes there was a rusted through plug on the rear of the head on the passenger side, the front of the head on the drivers side, and almost all other were almost rusted out. they've all been replaced and are sealed tight even the block plug was re-fitted and sealed.
the coolant is still clear green and oil is still new and golden, no milkshake.... so odd!

Yes it could have been a air lock you need to bleed it, theres a small air hose coming up from power steering pump ,its a long shot but if the air switch is faulty it can let p/s fluid into plenum inlet chamber

Hey guys, well did some more testing today and tried removing the power steering lines but the smoke remained. I'm pretty certain the head gaskets are toast. And this made my suspicions a bit more real...
So I guess I'll be rebuilding the engine, looks like I'll be the first ;) Thanks for your help guys! I'll be posting all about my rebuild when I can afford it

No offence, but misplaced cams and blown head gaskets - that's one severely mistreated 1uz right there. These things are pretty tough to break. I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the car is in poor condition too. I'd urge you to do a full check over the entire vehicle including driveline fluids just in case mate.

Yeah it appears the previouse owner/owners were utterly useless -_- but lucky it's only the engine that suffered :/ fished out a whole heap of stop leak out of the poor thing. Well it was very cheap, plus the interior is perfect! Only minor paint imperfections, so she should clean up really nicely plus every bushing and ball joint looks brand new! I was stoked. Air suspension works a treat. Shame the engine was so abused
