Hi Robin,
the speed alarm is a matchbox sized metal cube, that is wired to the back of the display panel. Around a dozen screws and a few locking tabs gets the dash display out, then just unscrew the box from the back of it.

Would you believe that the alarm is analog????
The box contains a spring loaded rod, two metal striker plates and an electromagnet.

It's truly freaky and unexpected behind a properly designed and almost bulletproof digital display.

Hope this helps.

yeah i did.. but that was the deal i had with the guy before the nrma inspected it (329 bukz there). I ended up hassling the guy down to 1900. The nrma guy said the car had 3 major problems ( a leak in the right rear airbag or hose, engine full of oil-leaks and front bushes need work on, and the AC needed work on. The brakes and tyres have only a few months in em and rego expires in midway october. So i hassled the guy down to 1900. sorry to mislead you before with the 5000. i was gonna pay that for a mint car.

In sayin all that, the car is in extremely good condition. I need to figure out a way to find that leak in the right rear. Does anyone know how to turn the TEMS off when you have it up on the jack. I want to spray around the airbag with soapy water so i can find that leak. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how i should do this?

hi everyone.. for those who don't know i have a GZ20 1987 that is currently undergoing some "enhancements" and i hope to have it back on the road in the near future.. the reason you haven't heard from me earlier is that i work away from home a lot with short breaks at home in between.. when the car is back on the road and i am home you know i am keen to meet up for a cruise gav! and HOW ANNOYING is the "old avon lady" DING DONG? i drove my car back from melbourne with it happily dinging the whole way it was painful! but that is gone now... looking into changing the colours of my dash.. i have a spare "guinea pig" dash here that i can afford to butcher.. if it works out then i will let you all know of course.
cheers
matt
