Sup all,
Ive just finished my BFI on my 93 TT & i notice a slight increase in response time especially off the mark. Seems to be better on fuel too. So im happyBit of a newbie though so bare with me. Anyways is around the headlight where the airbox draws most of its outside air from. Cause i have sealed under the headlight with conflue which seems like its blocking more outside air getting to the airbox from where the factory snorkel thing is. Hope yall know what im on about. Just thought might be a better idea to leave a gap behind the headlight so some air can get to the box from the bumper air dam thing. Any help would be mucho appreciated even if its telling me im an idiot. PEACE

I have BFI on 3.0 which needs no corflute or whatever underneath the airbox, there's nothing there. As I understand it the piece underneath on a TT is to stop air from the intercooler getting sucked into the inlet.

Chris, take the snorkel out if its still there. Also, if your car has the factory side mount intercooler I recommend you install a panel below the headlight that separates the air flow for the air filter from the air flow for the intercooler (maybe thats what you have done). Air filter should receive air 100% from the middle of the front bar, while the SMIC should receive air from the slot on RHS of bumper adjacent the turn light. I also recommend highly that you get your hands on a JZA80 SMIC and replace the Soarer SMIC as this along with an exhaust dump pipe will give you good safe gains for very few dollars. Sool time will be a lot faster then and coming on at lower revs.

im about to do the same thing to my 91 tt soarer, though was going to do it in stages. first just cut out the air box for more flow, then do the sides and top of the BFI.

cheers guys,
Yeah i have taken the factory snorkel out. It was a c*%t of a thing to get out. I have installed a panel under the headlight which i was a bit hesitant of at first but thanks to Michael Keen i know why its there. Very helpful michael your a ledgend. Ill be on the lookout for a JZA80 SMIC too and let yall know how i go. Im doing the finishing touched on my BFI soon. Ive got me some nice shiny ass metal sheeting that is used in fridges for its insulation properties. Its gunna look pretty nice when im finished. My baby is too pretty to be ruined with corflue. haha Thanks guys.

The snorkel should be easy to get off if the headlight's out. That in itself isn't a fun job. I managed to get the snorkel off the '97 without touching the headlight, but one bolt was a bugger to reach through the air inlet next to the foglight, but it was done, with much cursing.
