It appears that my left hand engine pipe is squashed (V8), apparently to around half it size according to S&L Cars.

Im wondering, how easy is this to fix? ie. can a car noob like me do it?
Also, what is the best way about getting a new one? I hear that if you put extractors on, you take the engine pipe off. Does anyone in melbourne have one laying around that that would like to dispose of?

Thanks

Extractors are probably not easy to find second hand. People tend to not take them off once they've put them on.

Neil will mail them to you. Then find an exhaust place to put them on. Or drive down to Quenbeyan and let Neil do the job.

They're around $800 installed (from memory) but they're worth it.

go the headers if you can afford it.
or call Ross at croydon exhaust fix and ask him if he has done a soarer recently or will do one soon, ask if you can have the pipe after he fits the headers. He does quite a few i beleive. doubt you could fit it yourself! have a look down there! not much room.

I have no idea how it got squashed, but it was defiantly like that when I bought the car, I just didn't know about it.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll give this Ross guy a call and see what happens.

I'll have one in a month or two when I get Neil's headers. :-)

Excellent! Well I'll be sure to look you up then!
Anyone know how much it would cost to replace through a mechanic?

fitting headers is about a 7 hour job! so assuming they dont need to make up any other pipe work, and are only doing one side, i would guess about 3 hours labour?

Once again call Ross Campbel, he has done heaps of soarers by the sounds of it (including mine)
