Is there a way to bring my fuel consumption down, I think its running to rich because on average depending on my driving style I only get about 4km to the litre, it just drinks the fuel

You can reset your ECU and baby it after that, the car will learn your driving style, and adjust itself accordingly.

Also, I think you can replace the 02 sensor too. Or do a BFI.

My soarer is a heavy drinker as well, I thought perhaps the injectors needed cleaning. I do mostly short trips around the city.

I have already done the ecu reset and the bfi with no difference, Ill have a look at the 02 sensor and injectors, is there a way to adust the richness of the fuel ?

With the stock ECU I don't think there's much you can really do about mixture. It'll be adjusted at low to middle rev range by the O2 sensor.
Also, what speed does it idle at? Sometimes if the ecu's temp sensor is not working properly it can run rich and idle high. This also might cause it to run a bit hotter than normal.

Put a block of wood under the loud pedal will reduce your consumption no end. :-)

4k/l is woeful indeed. It it isn't your driving then you have a problem. Tried a long open road cruise to see what consumption you get?

Things to check are the airflow meter and oxygen sensors. The car will still drive OK even with these disconnected but it will chew fuel.

hey mate that is about the fuel consumption but are you shore in that 4km to a litre test your wheels wernt spinning most of the way cause that might be a problem you car will think it has done about 14 km but your odometre will tell you how many you have realy done and to it might sound funny but are you using good fuel not cheap stuff not shore how much this will effect it but i ran a tank of normal unleaded through my soarer than a tank of ultimae though and got an extra 150km out of a tank at the same driving style for both fuels this shocked the out of me

A little punctuation makes for a much easier read, Aaron. It's also nice when people use capitals where applicable. Nice looking car though, mate.

I always use the good stuff 98 % octane sometimes 95 %, its a bit better on the highway, about 7-8 km to the litre, but city driving Id say it does about 4-5 km to the litre, I will check my 02 sensor, injectors and airflow meter, I might even reset the ecu once ever few months, thanks for all the info.

I average 8 - 9kms per litre, thats city driving, and the occasional burst here and there. I only use ultimate, havent tried normal unleaded yet.

I average about 9~10km/L for normal driving conditions which I don't find too bad at all.

I'd never put normal ULP into mine, that's like wanting to send your car to hell... not even that 95RON stuff.

Not at all. It was witty, complex, informative and such a gem that I can, alas, never reproduce its like...

Also, it said to Ben that I think he has a genuine problem with that level of fuel consumption, not just something an ECU reset or different fuel will cure.

Ben, check the sensors as Mark suggested. Unless you are an absolute leadfoot those figures make no sense for a TT, particularly the consumption for cruising on a highway. I'll skip the comparative figures I had in the previous note but there is plenty of evidence in older threads on fuel consumption that a comparatively stock TT should do much better than that. Your car appears not well and needs some attention.

Jeff, soarers have about 7-8 litres of fuel stored after it says you have 0l, or the block disappears from the fuel guage and it goes red.

The best way to guage is to do a full fillup.
I know this because i drove just under 60kms when the tank was supposedly empty :| i didnt know orite !

my TT has been sucking petrol like crazy in recent times,

I noticed that i need to refill too often,

Then i measured how mutch?

i reseted the odo trip and after 10L less in the tank, it was showing more or less 50km.

I was shocked...

So i stoped by find help here, but nothing much...

If i find the solution I'll let you know guys...

On average With my TT im using about 70 Litres of 98-100 octane fuel for a minimum of 500 km. Thats mostly city driving and a little bit of highway cruising. Needless to say i do give her a bit of a squeeze here and there :-) HAHA ... WHO DOESNT!!!

On the freeway though, im netting around 9-10 Litres per 100 kms :-)

And im going to get an SAFC fitted and get my car tuned in May sometime. Been told thats good for at least another 60 km's a tank and more HP.. Amen to that!

I had 2 new Bosch O2 sensors fitted and that made absolutely NIL difference to fuel economy, if anything it's worse
