haha, probably to go along with your other thread.

Dictating the course of the discussion, pretty cruel.

Start with disconnecting every line, every electrical and get a crane with chains.

Take out everything in front of the engine as possible (like the radiator etc). Try to leave the aircon stuff in, so, take off the aircon compressor and hope it can stay roughly where it is while you crane up the engine around it. Crane it up an inch, take off the mounts. Crane up more, keep looking around.

Have a friend help you look and hold it. You'll need to twist it probably as you pull it out.

Oh and take off the bonnet. Shouldn't be able to get the crane in without the bonnet off.

i agree with what aiden said, also a note, with my old falcon, removing gearbox oil, or securing a yoke in the back of the gearbox can save a big mess.

biggest tip often forgotten when removing or even working on a motor, de-grease the crap out of it, top to bottom, will make working on it ALOT easier.

if this is in relation to your other thread mine (where you asked 1uz to a N/A 2j), sell the uzz31 and buy a jzz31, job done.

Easiest way is radiator and fan out as 1 lump disconnect psteer and a/c lines (careful of pressure in a/c) leave pump altenator etc bolted to engine. Disconnect 2 heater hoses at rear of engine leave all wiring connected except p/s pressure switch at rack main feed to altenator main feed to fuse box 2 plugs near fuse box then pull the l/h floor carpet back and remove lower dash cover and large plastic cover. Unplug ecu and from memory 3 or 4 other plugs undo 2 10 mm head bolts at the firewall for the cover the main loom goes thru and pull that loom out and sit it on top of the engine.
Unbolt fuel lines at fittings next to lh rocker cover exhaust system after cat convertors tailshaft at rear of trans leave shaft in just undo the 3 bolts at the flange you wont need to plug gearbox pull spring clip out of the trans selector rod and pull out.
Remove rear cross member totally undo engine mount bolts.
You may or may not still have 2 small earth wires at the rear of the engine 1 top middle 1 underneath lhs undo if still there.
Remove bonnet and be very carefull not to round of the heads of the bonnet gas strut pins. (Recomend bonnet being a 3 man job to avoid damage its probably the hardest part of the whole job)
Hook up a crane and lift it out as 1 big lump but be carefull not to snag the steering rack pipes with the engine mount studs and if it has air suspension if someone has done any work in there and things are not sitting in the right spot it can sometimes snag a pipe and break it.
After having done a few of these now they are a bit easier than a falcon and about 50 times easier than a v6 commodore I think the last one I wrecked I had it out in about 1 1/2 hours and 2 beers on a hoist with air tools

Also, jack up the rear of the car as high as you can get it. Try to hook up your crane more towards the front of the motor (so that the g.box end will hang lower than the front).

I found that having the car and engine on angles means you can get the engine out over the rad support panel without having to lift it as high... I can post a pic if that doesn't make any sense. :p

Here are a couple of when I changed mine.

Air sus as high as it would go, gives room to get underneath.

Keep the lifting rig as short as you can, we took one wheel off so the crane would fit past where the wheel was.

Only had to lift the rear of the trans over the rad support to get it out.

These are not the best pics but should help a bit.
