WOOHOO, Just got my new Soarer with 160,000 on the clock and service history. I have changed oil & filter and cleaned the air filter and i have some diff oil (I guess the same diff oil i used for my falcon will be fine?) that i found in my garage, so i guess i might as well change that as it's pretty easy, however...
I saw in the soarer manual that the brake fluid should be changed quiet regularly but it appears in the service history of my car that this has never been done. I have never done this before on any car. To me the brakes feel fine and i'm happy the way they are working and i am a believer of not fixing whats not broken. However my aim is to do maintenance that will prevent problems in the future since soarers are expensive to repair, so i'm wondering if there is any risk of extra wear in the brake system by not flushing the brake fluid. I'd hate to accidently get air in there (i have ABS), and create my own problems if it's not really necessary.
I don't think the Auto has ever been serviced either so i think i will flush that, but i'm thinking of doing it without removing the pan to make it easier because i don't like the idea of gluing it back on. I have done a tranny flush on my falcon so feel pretty confident about that.
It seems the power steering leaked earlier in the history of the car and was noisy at some stage (but seems fine now) but now it has stopped, maybe some type of stop leak like lucas fluid was put in it, so i figure i might as well just leave it the way it is until it leaks again then put a kit in it. It is still the original one.
Also it is the original water pump too, but radiator has been changed 10,000 ago so i guess i don't need to change the coolant, just cross my fingers the pump lasts a while because i don't have any air tools for removing that harmonic balancer and so i guess i will be better off going to a garage to get that done.
The engine bay is a bit dirty, but it just got the roadworthy and according to that there were no leaks.
Just after some advice of what people think of my intentions.
