hi guys, seasons greetings from the emerald isle.
went to start my active on Christmas day and..yet again nothing happened.battery fine . it turns but wont start.i got the water pump done last year and since i got it back i've had a littany of problems.crank shaft sensor soon after . then coil pack and now its saying efi n/g 12.the fuel pump was whining recently and i swopped it over from my other active . no whine and driving fine.after i did coil pack recently it had been giving a slight mechanical "cough" on start up.wasnt turning first time.
when i bridge for EFI diagnostics it dosnt scroll through all numbers and come up with the square on the fault number it just comes up with one number .. 12. is this normal? in other diagnostic modes it scrolls through all numbers etc.
efi 12 is crankshaft sensor/cam shaft sensor/starter.i just had steering rack bushes done could this have "disturbed " the crankshaft sensor?maybe the fuel pump swop over has affected it?will check to see if its getting fuel .if yes then will swop over cam/crank sensor(s). anyone had similar woes?

point to note .. got her started. cause of trouble was crank shaft sensor.this is second time i've had this with an active.i've done timing belts on both though not with this mechanic.he said sensor had come loose. most likely disturbed when the timing belt was done so take note/care when doing so.

and the woes continue.it now seems like it dosn't want to start when its cold.yesterday was quite cold here.wouldnt start. today mild. started after a bit of a "cough".mechanic said the clips had broken off the crankshaft sensor and that he'd patched it up. new crankshaft sensor?more anon.

A long shot, but could it be the idle control valve not letting enough air in to start??
