Dan - realise this, but if you read up i was not very happy even before i found out about the heater core, based on their general professionalism and customer service.

Matt - can totally relate to your comment about the lack of professionalism at JapCars.

When I was in the market for my car, they had one for approx. 11.5K; went and saw it, was told:

"nah dont have the time for you to drive it today; nah is a mates car and if it doesn't sell by the weekend, it goes back to him; nah it is a private sale; nah I am a dealer I have an LMCT - full professional transaction with papers and stuff; nah I need a deposit of at least a grand before I start working on it to bring it up to RWC (I had it looked over and the report was SHOCKING!!I threw it out after I purchased my current car - it was in bad nick - the guy who checked it over recommended to be cautious about it)"

So there's my rant.

I was so stupid & desperate for a soarer I was a few hours away from putting down a deposit on a crap car - the guy even said if I didn't finalise the full payment within a few days (I'm talking 3 days) he'd take my deposit, end of story.

Full tool.

There are better people in business out there. Find them, and hook onto them!!!

ouch. I didnt have anything that bad, however i had to constantly hassle them with phone calls to get them to do any work on the car - they'd say "i'll call you in an hr" which meant i had to call them back in 2 , etc. When i rocked up to pick up the car/pay for the job, the guys were in the back, sitting on couches, didnt get up to greet the customer or anything, just kicked back, told me the car was sweet, i was lucky it didnt do any damage, but didnt give me the full rundown of what they checked/tested to confirm this. I was standing at the doorway while they all sat around, so im like "so..shall i fix you up out here?" and he replied "nah, just fix me up here it dosent matter" while he was on the couch. Like i'd just throw cash at him? Anyway i was paying via visa anyway, so he had to get off his butt. He processed the eftpos transaction and i got an eft slip, but no job sheet. Most mechanics i've ever been to give you a job sheet with the rundown of what was done/replaced/fixed and the itemised cost. I figured it might be sitting in the car as is sometimes the case. Left the guy, went to the car, no sheet. I didnt bother about it, if they want to do tax dodgies i dont care i was just happy to have the car back and be outta there, i was already late for work.

Sounds like they might be a little too relaxed.
