Okay did my BFI install on the weekend just passed. I had attempted to do the BFI mod with the egg-cups. I found them at Woolworths (amazingly). Are there 2 sizes of these eggcups at all? The ones I installed tend to overlap horribly (well 2 of them anyway) and do not sit flush with the airbox at all. Very dodgey looking at the moment. Mean but dodgey. I have seen other TT owners on the forum and their's seem to sit quite nicely and evenly. Another question, I have noticed the intake noise from my mod and it is a really, really intoxicating noise when it comes on boost. Love it!! Anyway back to my question, I noticed that after getting it on boost and taking my foot off the accelerator I get a noise that sounds very similar to a vented BOV (very quiet though). I have the stock BOV on my car.

Did you buy the egg-cups to suit regular or free-range? As far as I know there's only one size. Just depends on placement of the holes. If you are getting more induction noise then you would be hearing the plumb-back BOV venting, as it vents back into the inlet. Doesn't sound surprising.

Well that's good then as know I don't even have to bother with buying an aftermarket BOV.

Unless you've somehow bumped the hose off? Otherwise

| Tim, don't think I bumped the hose off.

From the looks of the things, free-range . Yeah I did not see any other sizes at Woolies. |

Suggest using Chicken sized egg cups, NOT Ostrich!

I had to bend the edges of mine to make them sit flush with the airbox.. You cant really tell from looking, but they are. Also, you have to cut the holes so that they all fit to begin with.. The otherwise they will overlap..

I just finished making a lid for the BFI and have now noticed something strange with the idle of my car. The car before the lid was idling at roughly 600-700 rpms (have no idea if this was 750 - just going on the actual RPM readout). The car with the lid on is now idling at around 400-500 (it seems to be happier at 400 for what ever reason). Tried doing an ECU reset to see if this would do anything and took it for a drive (as per the instructions i.e. giving it a bit a few times). Still my car has decided that it wants to idle at this ridiculous level. This is on a GT-TL. Any ideas? A friend suggested to leave it for a little while and see what it does. Might be the computer is still trying to adjust the mixture??

One more thing I forgot to mention is that when it is idling at this low level it isn't rough. It's relatively smooth-ish. It's when you press the throttle in there's a little bit of a delay/hole before it comes good (best way to describe it). I'm wondering if it will heal itself given that I have just done an ECU reset.

I pretty sure TT's behave weirdly after a reset for a while...

Will, take it out somewhere empty, do the reset again with engine warm, then do 5 or 6 hard accelerations, then drive normally, it should behave alright within a couple of minutes... otherwise maybe your BFI is doing the opposite and choking the engine perhaps

An update on this. Yesterday afternoon I started it and it was idling just right on cold. Took the car for a drive to the gf's and it's idling like it was before. For whatever reason it has fixed itself up alright now.
