Hey I was wondering if anyone knows how to fully take apart the whole interior and put it all back together?
I am planning on spraying my interior either all black or make it a mix of tan/black instead of that filthy brown.
Would anyone else be interested in doing this with me as it would be good to try and do a workshop or something if that is possible, just a suggestion.

hey patrick
i was also considering this, but its pretty hard to find black interior and i think it'll be expensive to get it all. If spraying is an option i might give that a try, but im leaning towards saving up and getting a newer soarer pearl white, with black leather interior and the turbo vvti engine.

hahaha Yeah I know how to take out the back seats I just need help with the other parts like the front dash and the doors, The black spray retail for like $7.00 a can and would need about 5 or 6 cans so that you can do 2 coats but i have seen it done and looks original.
Come on guys wouldnt you like your interior to be all black like the 1998 models?

What spray will you be using patrick?
I have thought about that - the tan brown gets on your nerves after a while!

My concern is the long wear of spray on vinyl paint.

I too would like to and I even have a complete spare interior trim to test on. Well no A pillars actually.

Things like arm rests and areas of high traffic.

Does anyone have any experiences that could share with us please?

yeah the poo brown bit does get on your nerves...

I've never used the stuff in the can from the shop only leatherique. Works equally well on vinyl and leather, but a bit more expensive than $7 a can !!!!!

And I didn't bother taking out the main dash,
Its just toooo much hassle !

Mike, just wondering how much dye did you use to change the colour of the dash? Was it a relatively straight forward process?

sorry Jeff didnt see your post before I posted up.

In my last soarer I re-dyed the leather (V8) and vinyl bits like the arm rests, centre console and seat surrounds.

I had it in the car for about 6 months before I sold it and had no visible wear at all.
In fact when I was putting the drivers seat back in I accidentally scuffed the drivers arm rest and while it actually put a very small wrinkle in the vinyl itself it didnt remove any of the dye !!!

We've found the vinyl paint WILL come off reasonably easily on hard surfaces. Seems pretty good for softer stuff like the window surround trims and the dash pad but on areas like the door inserts, seat belt fittings etc it does rub off quite easily and you need to treat it carefully.

Here's a pic of a tan pov pack interior conversion done to black for us (Denise's car) by a motor trimmer. Most of it 2 years down the track is still very good but on the hard surfaces I mentioned it needs touching up.

Mike, did you spray the dash, sponge it, brush it?

The centre console surround, did you do that, and how please?

I am seriously consider doing this as I have seen it done on Pauls and looks very good.
Here is a pic he sent me and the stuff out of the can.
