Nice looking headlights Elizabeth:-) Cant wait to see the Pics...

On the side though--- I cant stand HID lights! Way too bright when you are being followed and way too bright when oncoming. Im sure they may be good for seeing the road, But my Low Beams + my Driving lights ( which i have on when lights are on) are WAY less Wattage than any HID ( i think) And im only 28!

Low beams = 55+55= 110. Driving lamps = 25+25 = 50. 110+ 50 = 160... Hid's are what?>?? 135w each?

When a street is heavily lit the eyes have adjusted.

Further, advertising lights are not aimed beams of light that raise and lower in your field of vision as you drive towards it.

I live in a more rural area, streets are lit, but not a lot of traffic, so I guess I (and my peers) feel these bright lights are just downright bloody dangerous.

My Honda S2000 lights were bright, but with an excellent cut off.

Most of my cars have had Cibie Oscer or better, anything up to 6 spotties on the front.

Never needed more than parkers and 2 headlamps to be noticed by any other driver.

I have been riding motor bikes since 1968 and am well aware of how important visibility is.

35W :-)

The cars that you could be seeing are cars with aftermarket HID kits. People that chuck them into projector housings don't make them like a factory fitment, but they seem to be a LOT less offensive than people that put them into reflector-type headlights.

I don't know about you but the light produced from a factory HID system is piercing (as in one spot of light is very concentrated) if you're looking directly at it. Some projectors can get away with this (Soarers seem to) but most type of glare from factory HIDs are from colour flicker that bounces off the cut-off shield when the car is going up and down (eg. over crap surfaces on the road). Aftermarket HIDs, especially in reflector headlight housings emit a glare (kinda like shining a massive torch at you); compared to proper HIDs the light is all over the place.

Just my observations though :-)

On this note, is it just me or are virtually all Honda Accord Euro headlights mis-aligned? They all seem way too bright and way too high (like they have high beams on all the time). By far, they are the most irritating car on the road to drive in the path of their headlights in my opinion.

as jose says. HID's are generally 35watts. You can get 55watt versions which are supposed to be awesome. Also any headlight that is misaligned will blind you.

Hi Callum,
Yes i said precise as YOU know i did.
Precise has helped me a lot and have fixed problems other mechanics couldnt.

A lot of other Soarer owners use precise so that says something.

Im sorry if you may or may not have had a bad experience with Precise.

If you dont like them that's your opinion as we are all entitled to.

OK Guys,Lights are in and tested them tonight.
Some comments received regarding the lights are warranted BUT.
Honestly speaking, The light i have had fitted are universal, no need to extend any wiring.

The lights where fitted with H1 globes which put of the same amount of light as the commodore.( tested at workshop).
Can also be fitted with HID.

These light ARE justable. When first put in they hit the roof but once adjusted they where fine.

The fog lights have been disconnected and connected to a switch so they are not on all the time.
The fog light are blue in colour and are illegal here in perth if used incorrectly.

As for the gap that was spoken about, yes there is a slight gap around the light that i have marked in one of the photos.Bottom.
Reason this is, the rubber around the original lights are thicker, so all that needs to be done to eliminate the gap is to install a thicker rubber around the lights.

I will be doing this when i get the new kit installed.

Tested the car tonight, Drove up and down brand highway where there is no street lights , pitch black and not one driver flashed at me, but one of the lights are sitting a smidgen to the right and will be going back in to correct this.

Overall, there is no real problem with these lights, they look fab and will look even better when i install the glass high beam and clear indicators.Well worth the money.

Liz

Sorry, they may have changed but in the past they have been extremely dodgy.

That was the past though. I havent heard anything about them since, however there are other mechanics in Perth who know Soarers as well as the gurus over east, such as Neil and Lew.
