Hey Lawrence thanks for the replies. One last question is it a moulded carpet? (Has it been moulded on a soarer floor pan) or is it a universal type deal?

what you mean to say Brett is;
has it got the foam sections under the carpet or is it one that lays over the top of what we all ready have

Hey guys, i am in the process of doing my seat covers. Post up pics when im done. Rear is already done. Im having some trouble with the front seats. I've read Lawrence's steps and it says to remove the plastics using a flat head screwdriver. I've been trying and cant get them loose. The thing which operates the height of the seat, and the lever stuff won't allow me to remove the plastics. Can anyone help? Thanks

It has been pressed to shape on a Soarer floorpan, and therefore follows the contours of the floor quite closely, and certainly fits well. However there are no moulded rubber bits on the underside - I used domestic rubber underfelt, and cut it to size. For $180 I reckon it's well worth it, and you have a fresh smelling brand new carpet underfoot.

Hey guys, im finding it a real mission to do the base of the front 2 seats! Far out i can't do it without taking out the seats and i can't take out the seats. Just wondering if anyone in Sydney is willing to do it for me? Happy to pay a reasonable price. Thanks guys!

Why can't you take out the seats? Its quite simple. Just unbolt them. From memory its like 5 bolts

The drivers side plastics i can't take off at all, cause the knobs i can't take out at all. On the passenger side. i could see 2 bolts once i took the plastic off, but i didn't see the other ones.

Ive got the top half of the front seats done, just the bottom part i need done. So annoyed i can't do the last bit

Woah, hang on!

The instructions I wrote up were ONLY to remove the seats from the car. This involves removing the clip-on plastic trims that cover the seat-rails bolts. These can be removed using a flat screwdriver gently, to prise them lose. Once this is done, you can see the five bolts that secure the rails to the floorpan of the vehicle. Remove the seats from the car as described.

THEN the instructions say:

"You will probably want to remove the plastic shroud at the base of the seat to get the best fit. I didn’t as it is quite tricky, and used a plastic ruler to push the seat covers between the seat and the plastic shroud"

However, once the seats are out, you should be able to remove the plastic trim at the base of the seat. But as I note, I didn't do this, and it was fine.

ok sorry mate! Cheers i think i read the instruction wrong. So it's not the plastic bit to the side you remove. Its the plastic bit under the seat you remove? I had a look just then, and there's two plastic clip-on's. Is this what we loosen with the screwdriver?

Those are the ones. They are flat plastic covers that are on the floor of the car, covering the seat bolts.

This diagram shows a car seat.

The red lines indicate where the seat bolts into the floorpan. The bolts are hidden by plastic covers at the ends of the rails. Remove them. There are 5 bolts that must be removed.

This diagram shows the Soarer seat from above, as if you were looking down through a sunroof.

Looks White on Dark Grey in pics but its not. Its light grey on dark grey (Ultimate colours).

For those that follow...if you have midnight indigo paint the dark grey (Ultimate)colour is an EXACT match to the dark grey (Toyota)leather....I mean EXACT. The grain is different though its that close to the seats it will tie in just fine.

I will now do the sill/window surrounds to fix the dreaded crack zone next. As they are rare as hens teeth in my colour cause I can only get em from a Midnight Indigo LTD.Will post pics in due course.

All in all pretty happy. The quality of the covers is as everyone else has said, excellent. Taking the extra time to do the white strings is a must, as is taking the seats out+USE A CROCHET HOOK for the strings...its simple if you do. Center console & armrests I fixed on permanently with contact adhesive....I was never gonna take em off anyway.

Brings me to two points I was unhappy with...read as well pissed off.

1)Armrests, the stitching on everything else was absolutely perfect, parralel/straight in a word, beautiful. The Armrests looked like they had been sewn by an apprentice. Not straight not parralel. In a quite a few words, let down, rough, dodgy, ugly....crap (compared to the rest of the work....hey I put em on, they're not so bad I'd send em back)

2)Rechecked my order...yep I ordered the perforated leather for center of the seat backs...it wasn't done. (Again, I went ahead & put em on anyway, not worth sending em back... but I really wanted the holes there cause I sweat...bad)

Was going to VHT the carpet, seeing how good the covers look & a few pics of Jan's in the "found a place that will do new carpet" thread...no question. Brand new carpet in dark Charcoal for sure.

Last of all, now I need the steering wheel done in genuine leather to match new colour scheme.

Hey guys, I'm interstate on work experience and have nothing to do so I thought I'd throw up some pictures of my covers. I don't own a soarer but these are from your group buy and I thought you may want to see how maroon turned out.

Unfortunately I can't find pictures of the back seats, and since these pics have been taken I've done the bottom of the doors in maroon (where the trim is covered by carpet), and when I get back to Perth I'm doing the door pillars and roof in dark grey suede.
