Yes. Yes.
Wish I could say "use Search" but, alas, the old forum is gone. So, Vlad's conversion is the ace for improved stereo and you can get TV as well. Contact Mark Paddick.
On Nav, you can fit an aftermarket system which displays on the EMV and where the GPS is hidden under the rear shelf carpet, so the only signs it is not original will be: You use a remote control to drive it. The stero system sound dies when you switch to the Nav screen, because it thinks it is on TV. The screen will probably be a bit dull and hard to read. It is not in Japanese.
A couple of us have used Blaupunkt systems. Colin mounted his in the boot and I mounted mine under the passenger seat (attached to the seat, not the floor). I believe there are a couple of others that work. Your big problem will be finding a decent installer.

I'll send you some info on the radio and TV conversions Mike.
Basically forget the Sat/Nav system in the Soarer. Even if it could be converted , which it can at huge cost, it is an old system and nowhere near the current ones in performance. Aftermarket is the way to go. There is a way to connect to the EMV and still have stereo sound too.

David, connecting in place of the reverse camera is one way but you'd probably have to put up with the red dots on screen. It should be possible to connect in place of the EMV computer video. If I ever get the time I'll investigate....

plenty of people have tried to crack the nav but at the end of the day we cant get proper raster maps at a decent price. better off with a VDO MS5500 and RGB converter...
