I've been trying to contact Peter Scott from Planet Soarer now for the last 6 months. About 6 weeks ago I received an answer from him asking what my postcode was, but since then there has been nothing? Does anyone know if he is still doing the reupholster jobs, or is this service no longer valid?

Hey guys, I have just had a wheel that I bought and my shifter recovered, by the same company that Peter uses. Contact them at ATUC Holdings, 42 Wodonga St Beverley SA 5009. www,atuc.com.au.

OK, Post Bernies advice (thanks mate, much appreciated) I called ATUC. Spoke with Peter May who was a great bloke. He sent me a couple of sample trim pieces in the mail just to make sure the colour was a match & it was perfect. I picked up a shifter & handbrake prior so the car wouldn't have to be off the road while the retrim happened. Here's the pics together for comparison. I'll post a few more after I have them fitted. Amazing job. Thanks Peter. Here's his number & email if you guys are interested (08) 82443684 & atuc@tpg.com.au . The web address doesn't seem to work at the moment. I spoke to a few trim shops in Sydney & they couldn't go close to the price even with postage included (about 10 bucks from Syd to SA). Turnaround was under a week even with the post to SA. Here's the pricing: Soarer handbrake cover is $60.00 , handbrake grip $35.00 , the auto shifter $50.00 all GST INC. Pretty reasonable me thinks.

OK they are in. Only took about 1/2 hour max to fit everything & I've never pulled the console or shifter off before. Shifter is a piece of piss, maybe 30 seconds to get off. Tutorial on how to listed here from Peter: "Soarer Central/How-to and Tutorials/Removing the Head Unit" The handbrake has 4 bolts (2x16mm & 2x8mm) & a philips head screw. Undo the screw to release the handbrake microswitch that is linked to the handbrake icon on the dash. two other small nuts attach the cable. BTW, the tension on the cable can actually be adjusted from here & uber easy...no need to take a wheel off Anyways, this was about the easiest thing I have ever done on the Soarer & they look a million bucks. Whattaya think?

& the complete picture
Id also highly recommend one of these. Tool of the trade for Audio installers. Gets out the lights, consoles....just about everything interior & without the damage a screwdriver can do. Just a couple of bucks.
PBN1 is the model number from Snapon
Hope this helps. I think Peter May is gonna be a busy boy after this post

Sure Chris, here's a copy of Peters email to me. BTW I have the chocolate leather interior in the Celsior, of which Peter cant match the colour exactly. The leather he has is a shade lighter & actually matches the colour of my seats instead of the chocolate dash etc. The steering wheel & dash is actually a shade darker. I decided to have the shifter & console lid in the lighter leather & have the wheel done in black & paint the horn hub/airbag black as well, a-la european car look with the black steering wheel. This will make more sense when I post the retrimmed pics on return. He does the sport grips on the wheel as well as the extra control foam under the retrim for that luxury feel (add exotic backing music here). You just need to notify him a few days in advance of your wheel arriving so he can prep the sport grips & ensure fast turnaround. Sport grips are like the perforated leather you get on baseball mitts....very stylish.
{Hi MARK The soarer handbrake cover is $60.00, handbrake grip $35.00, the auto shifter $50.00 all GST INC
The celsior colour is a problem i only have been able to find a colour that is lighter than original . The cost for the wheel is $195.00 and i need to be advised one week prior to you sending it because i have to send the leather away for the sports grips. Centre console lid is $90.00, auto shifter $50.00 all GST INC . regards peter may}
Lastly, I'm really happy with the soarer retrim bits. They really rejuvenate the interior.
Hope this helps. Watch this space for an update. MT

The parts arrived back from Peter at ATUC. What can I say...just awesome. I suppose part of being an enthusiast is getting a kick out of mods that come out really well. The interior, like the retrimmed bits from the soarer, have come up like new. Here's a few pics.
Centre console lid & shifter:
The wheel with the 2mm control foam & sport grips looks fantastic & is lush to drive with.
I bought some VFT Vinyl paint for the horn pad, but decided not to paint it, at least for now. I kinda like the dark two tone look.
Fast work, great quality, good bloke. Thanks again Peter.

BTW, timing... - Steering wheel & airbag remove & replace...about 15mins, after I worked out the clip on the airbag. Dead easy, just be careful. Make sure you disconnect the battery first of you might get a nasty surprise. need a torque screwdriver as well; - Shifter...about 15 mins, 2 philips head screws. the O/D button has 2 wires that are a little tricky, but once again these are quite intuitive & easily refitted. I did get mine & rejoined with the refit. - The console...had to remove the whole centre to get the lid off. Thought it would unscrew just by the philips heads underneath, but there are a few at the very rear that can only be taken off after you remove the console lid from the console, hinge and all. Sorry, no pics of this as my camera battery died just as i began. There is a tutorial on SC somewhere for this. Hope this inspires others to do the same.
