Buy another cig lighter? Where do you people splice into? The existing cig lighter or any 12V?

I have seen cigarette lighter dividers where it splits your original one into 2 as for mounting it. Location would be a personal preference.

Would the dividers be low profile enough to close the ashtray/cig lighter cover?

you need to fit a collar as not to much room at the back (you will need to make outer shell of cig lighter shorter )

If you want a real nice neat fitting for your GPS the click on way. Tomtom advertise it as an extra and is available in Aussie . Another name for this fitting in the states. Made to fit any car airvent including the soarer. You need to quote make and model soarer. Mounted mine directly about emv screen, realy firm and also got the charger holder that is an optional extra but the wire to that simply goes into the grove left between dashboard and EMV screen and wired to ignition so power cord is 99.9 percent invisible. Far far superior to the super cheap auto vent fittings and of course much dearer. No damn cig lighter cords to dangle anywhere. This is a real tidy fit and looks real nice. Very easy to lift out the gps and click it back in when you want to.Also got little hood for the gps which cuts down some reflections. Got that from Amazon.Looks very cool mounted in the middle directly above the emv. Oh yeah the holder also has a limited swivel so can be directed more to the driver but really dont need to.

i mounted my gps on the right of the steering wheel above the vent and ran the cable behind the trim all the way to behind the stereo. i just brought an extra cigerete lighter plug from jarcar and wired it in. its really easy and really neat.

I have mounted an extra cig. lighter in the middle arm rest, for the purposes of charging my phone. I've also wired it into a 12v voltage dump so that l can leave the phone charging, out of sight and it'll cut out if the Batt. voltage drops below 11.2 volts. No flat battery and can leave the phone charging, safely out of sight :-D

Next job, add another cig. lighter plug for gps. I'll put it under the dash on the driver side so l can run the cable down under the trim to it with the GPs mounted on the right side of the steering wheel

But the standard location is on the right close to the cluster but I guess anywhere along the wood trim...

It doesnt enough clearance at the back they suggest it be fitted on right corner but prefer both screen, emv and gps in alignment so just moved it along to middle with a bit of pressure. They make the holding clip to fit about any car going, you just specify the model when ordering.

I used mine on the right. Recommended position.

It partially blocks the right center vent but really its not really that much of a deal.
