Ok guys.

I don’t know if this is in the right section and this has probably been answered before. I tried a search but do not know what to search?

Anyways. Is there any way to hack (don’t know what other word to use) the boot release?

Ok I will let you know what is up.
The boot release on my car is locked. I must have accidentally bumped the button one day because it used to work. Now I thought no big deal I will just stick the key in and unlock it. The thing is that my car is spruce and the section for the boot release is the cream colour.

So it seems in its previous life it must have had a problem and the owner bough a cream colour boot/fuel cap release to fix it. The problem is that my key doesn’t fit.

So is there any way in over coming this. It really wont make any difference in my driving or living experience but I am very fussy and knowing that it doesn’t work will p1ss me off, even though I might only use it 2 or 3 times a year.

So it there any way of removing the key lock and putting in a button to pop the boot? or can you unlock the key thing or something.

Sorry if this has been answered or is in the wrong section.

I know if I replace it then I am back to square one as if it locks itself again nothing has changed.

You should be able to wire in a little jumper to bypass the key switch and still put power straight to the boot button.

Yeah it's easy Bill ..... just remove the Valet Lockout Panel and re-wire the Unit to BYPASS the Tumbler.

Found images for this in my phone - figure I'd put them up for anyone wanting them

This is a permanent fix and disables the valet lock.

Remove panel, cut line between plug and tumbler - cut close to tumbler to allow as much wire as you can.

Upload

Connect wires and insulate connection.

Upload

Plug it back in.

Upload

Presto! - Boot and fuel flap will now work

I know this is an old post but I thought I would try my luck!

My boot currently opens using my central locking fob. If I follow the instructions above, will this continue to work or will only the interior latch work?

Thanks in advance
