Why dont they produce the car instead of bringing out yet another commodore? There would be a market for them, like an aussie pt cruiser only better. I'd pay 40 grand+ for a car that looks like that, pt's are about $35,000 on road. I'm sure that they could make it more affordable than 1.5mil.

Because it makes zero economic sense to build them in production numbers. You wouldn't be paying 40+, probaly more like like 80+, 90+. Not everyone loves the styling, same as PT Cruisers, and once there as lots of them around people would go off them.
They bring out "yet another Commodore" because thousands of families and fleets use them and they are not bad cars.

Would anyone complain about the new Ford GT40 revival. Best thing Ford ever did IMO.!

1.5 Million ??? what a joke.

I just saw the Top Gear episode with the Bugatti Veyron, OH MY GOD what a car and its cheaper too, 870,000 pounds (only just) but worth so much more in terms of style, performance and prestige.

I agree Ben. $1.5m is an absolute joke charged at full, one off engineering costs. the car is pure horn and i think there would be a market for it, if not here O/S for sure especially in USA.

i missed it on tv tonight, what did it go like? i admire the styling but not sure it would do anything too special (handling) as it sits on a corvette chassis.

Meh. The features of the car that they showed off were:

-Digital speedo
-Digital tacho
-Touchscreen TV for stereo and climate control
-Height adjustable air suspension
-Push button auto

Now all I need is the push-button auto, a couple of litres added, and a blower, and I'm at the same specs as the Efijy. But the Efijy ain't got no reversing camera.

GBP 870,000 = AUD 2.1 million... a tad more than 1.5 mil ;)

It wouldn't cost 1.5 mil if the car was produced in the same volumes as veyrons, ferraris etc. It'd probably be in the couple of hundreds... even less if there was as many of them as say HSVs for example. Simple economics.

Sorry for continueing with the offtopic but Daniel you do raise a good point. HSV's are now so popular they are cheaper and more freely available than the common SS.

Im glad I decided to get the Soarer :-)

Guys the 1.5Mil was to design, research and fabricate the first of a kind. About the same as most top concept cars. This is not related to the cost of the car if produced. The hard work only has to be done once! I'm a fan btw, best thing they made since the GTR-X ;)
Would be great if released in VERY limited numbers.

The GTR-X was pure sex... Why it was never produced is a mystery! It would've revolutionized Australian sports cars!
