Well today was the day, Got my cat back dual exhaust installed. Popped down to the Muffler shop and started at 8am, was finished just before 11am. I took Peter N's most appreciated advice and went for the dual cat back system, accept 2.25" not 2.5" I also fitted the rear tips again. The outcome is fabulous! A nice quiet Idle thanks to the lukeys and a superb deep tangy burble at high rpms, not a roar its much nicer than that. SO glad I did NOT get a X pipe - Make it too quiet and harsh IMO, I prefer the rumble any day! The cost for the lukeys was $400NZD all up ($200NZD Each) and $400NZD to install - the job my Dean at Mr Mufflers is superb, very very well done - Great guy for a chat too! As well as the sound even being a cat back, theres a nice power increase, much much quicker, tires free up much easier and it just completes the car - Best off all all of my rattles have gone! Ill get some pictures and a video (w/Sound) of the exhaust shortly...

On the underside? Yep lots of stuck on dusty dirt, I havent get cleaned under the car, needs it as original owners parked on a dusty road. I dont see it so doesnt bother me, Ill will clean it soon though, mainly around suspension areas.

| Heres the video, Sounds much better in person and alot different under load of course! It's even better! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g73ZApuRaw Note how the right muffler has more moisture vapor than the left? That's due to the fact the right mufflers been used and it's been sitting for a while, where as the left its new. They need to both burn in so they give a more balanced sound but you cant really notice too much difference unless you put your ear right bellow the tips at idle.

Nice although i'd be keen to hear it in person. First impression is that i would prefer mine to have a slightly deeper rumble when giving it some jandal. I guess maybe dual 2.5" pipes for me perhaps.

Ummm, aren't they resonators???? The cat is meant to be where that temperature sensor had been welded into your exhaust on the last picture... Unless V8's got different exhaust on that side... |

The cats are up to the side of the trans tunnel as like all soarer v8s are - they are on a 45 degree angle, see them after the new exhaust flange? The cat heat sensors are pretty much the same place they were originally on the stock tube

Hehe, Almost its much more of an exciting ride - It's considerably better now, the whole car is more relaxed and just feels how it should have been back in 1991. The stock system is like asthma! I actually took my shoes off as I was sitting in a hot garage putting my epoxy repaired window regulator back in and didn't really have the need for em to be on so yeah off they went!, then I just happened to have the camera handy and recorded a few quick revs

This image is with the new setup, still looks just the same as when I got it standard as shown bellow - I like these tips :-)
This is another part I like the angled muffler on a side view, stock they are like this also, I find its quite a nice look - especially with the mirror finish on both muffler and tip :-)

Thanks Jeff. Tomorrow Ill get some drive by video/audio clips - The sound is so much more soothing under load and outside my buddies said its simply brilliant.... Inside the sound its audible under throttle but its projected back alot, It just shows those lukeys sure do a good job!

Sounds like your starter motor is hurt, you can hear it scream at the 7sec mark of the video. Ouch! Is it ok?

It was just a quick start with the key and its in a garage so that probably why it sounded odd and loud - Its fine though how it always goes like a normal starter. That would be number zero on the worry list right now as its fine , focus now is alarm/immobilizer so its there when I get back after parking it some where!
