I dragged a wrx wagon model around 2003 off the lights. I took off quicker, then we were neck to neck over 1st 100m then he flew ahead as turbo kicked in. it had an aftermarket exhaust too. Not bad for a JZZ31 3L.

WRX's arent as impressive as soarers when it comes to bottom end power. A few nights back I kept well ahead of an STi 0- roughly 80, thereafter it started creeping ahead.

I dont know much about them but id have to assume theyre running steel turbo setups since the boost takes a while to kick in... must have a lot of boostage headroom if so....

Heheh, just beat a WRX myself... I only got my soarer a few days ago, i'm more then happy now. $8,500 for the soarer Vs "56,990*" for a WRX STI...

Bigger single setup rather than smaller twin will be the killer here.

One thing to remember folks; a WRX STi is supposed to be the "Street Rally Spec" version... and the rally ones travel at speeds upwards from 80kph along roads... so the cars will be geared up to maintain high speeds.

Yes, it was an STi, i'm quite sure of that...
But there could have been other contributing factors to it's poor performance... Such as it being a manual and him not being good at the whole driving thing? And i didn't let it go over 95kmh... 80 zone, i still want my licence.

Wonder how long it'll take for me to get done on power to weight, heheh! I'm 100% sure i'm not allowed to drive this on P plates!

V8 Soarers are legal on P plates, the TT's aren't though.

I put the info into the vicroads calculator and it came up as being over power to weight. Maybe i got some of the info wrong.

Would your insurance cover you in case of some accident if you technically not supposed to drive it on P's?

I beat a Rex (standard REX I think it only had a loud BOV) off the lighhts on the weekend and pulled infront of him as the lanes merged. Then it started raining and we came to a steep hill as it divided into 2 lanes again.

I knew I had no chance against the AWD up the hill in the wet but I tried anyways and he overtook me while my back end was dancing trying to hold on. Thats my story.

I'm on my green P's and I'm allowed to drive a turbo. The laws came in on 11th July 2005 and if you ALREADY had you're P's it doesn't apply to you. Only people who got they're P's after that date (i got mine almost exactly a year before.)

MAURICE - V8 engines and Turbo's are illegal to drive for all people who obtained they're P's after 11th July 05. There are a small amount of exceptions (mainly for low power turbo's). Check the RTA website.

Byron, the Victorian laws are a bit different to us mate. They currently have a power to weight ratio restriction, but they will be moving to have all turbo's, V8's and high powered 6's banned by 2008.

Daniel, I think it all comes down to whether anyone actually finds out how powerful the Soarer actually is at the time of the accident. I believe a stock TT is legal for P platers to drive in Victoria, but once they are modified things can go in any direction.
