Has anyone had their rims repaired? I have 2 of my wheels buckled, and want them repaired since they are quite expensive. Anyone can suggest a good place?

Thanks

yeah i went to a place that did a reasonable job, it was out west past liverpool..if this is not too far let me know i will look up the details for you. I think it was around 30-40 per wheel. The guy also painted em nicely with two pack at around 60 per wheel from memory.

2 places Ken in Sydney

Morton and May in Warrick Farm located near Cumberland Highway and Hume Highway intersection

Mag Man in Riverwood located on Wiggs Road

I have had rims repaired at both places, both do a great job as well.

Ken, whoops unable to find the contact details, the business was called oz wheel, but looks like you got some good info anyway. If you could let me know how you go i'd be interested as i need to get some old wheels re rolled (again -damn soft three piece bastards).

I went to Morton and May and they are charging me $185 per wheel. Thats to straightened them (because its buckled) and polish them, but no anodising (the guy confesses that they are no good at that).

Also went to Magman and he wanted $80-90. I think it was only to straighten it out. Not sure about polishing. The annoying thing is that they don't have the machine to take the tyre off. So you have to give them the rim only to work on.

I'll try out one more place at Blacktown as suggested by Steve one day.

wow ken, 1) sounds a bit dear and 2) sounds a bit like they should get a machine for removing tyres! whats with that? please let me know when find the right people as i have four beauties with new tyres that i want to sell (it doesnt seem right to sell them buckled). Now that i reflect back when i last got the rims re-rolled 2 of them still werent quite right..is there a difference between re rolling and straightening?

Yeah.. reckon . It is expensive. I was hoping for more along the price of about $150 max. But anyways.. I'll just keep looking.

I was thinking today to get a hammer and bang them back into shape hahahaha If that works, I might as well!

Re-rolling and straightening is the same thing.

Apparently one of my neighbours told me that theres a place in Lidcombe that does it too, a street near Auther st. But i looked the other day and it wasn't there. I'll have to consult him on that.

ha, after hitting a the same pothole twice in as many days i became quite handy with a hammer...and let me tell you on my soft three piece rims it wasnt too hard a task- i got the offending one to hold air again..which is all i needed at the time...but it didnt run too well. I heard that they need to be bent out at 70 degrees celcius so they dont crack (which i didnt bother to verify, i just used boiling water to douse them as i banged away). Then again bodgy quick jobs are a my forte :-) but seriously the going price should be around 30$ a wheel. I'll take a drive around one day see if i can locate the business that did it for me, it was semi rural and having lost his business card all the roads look the same :-(

Ben, if banging with a hammer worked for you, I think i will give it a go. Or you can do it for me haha! It is losing air pressure... thats annoying. It would go from 36psi to about 22 in 3 weeks. Not very good.

Thanks for that Ben, if you do find it, I'd be much appreciative.

ha ken, mine went from 40psi to 0 psi in ten seconds! such a slow leak i reckon the hammer is a great option! in fact if the wheels are spinning to your liking just go ahead and hit the dent out. I presume the problem is the inner rim- my dents where huge like 5-10cms in, if u got less than that go for it. If u can, get a wooden headed mallet that way you wont have hammer marks all over the inside like me.
