Don't mean to be critical (bugger it yes I do), but to do that with a crowd standing in front you would have to be a total retard, one mistake and you've got lots of dead kids. Can you get the details of the car for us as well, so nobody on here ever has the misfortune to buy it. The motor would have been cooked doing a burnout for that long, the turbo certainly was.

Your mates a toss, poor car was screaming and that looked so dangerous with that many people so close by. My missus's echo could produce that much smoke if you wanted to kill it. On ya buddy . Ill add the number plate to the post just in case someone ever does a search for it .... RXA860

The car IS a beast, but you mate is a wanker... Poor engine/tires/neighbours

Sorry, I just reckon there is a time and a place for stuff like that, ie: racetrack.. burnout comp, whatever, just not a driveway(!) with that many people around.

Could have ended up on the news.

Also I hope the guy knows that his number plate is there for everyone too see, might want to fix that.

Love to see some info on the twin charge set up. Would be interesting combining a big laggy turbo for top end and an appropriate sized supercharger to help spool it. Burnout was a fair effort too.

Yay, what an idiot :-)

that wasnt done on public roads was it? (it didnt look like)..... i still dont get the point of burnouts though ?

(maybe it is cool to show your car can do 0kmh, whilst spinning the rubber, so by the end of it you just wasted 5000km of your engines life, 5% of the transmissions life, 2 blown hoses, and problems to face in many weeks... and the added bonus of possibly getting rid of loved ones and starting all-over in jail..... but they say its worth it ?? .... i say its stupid......

Burnouts are burnouts, and those who want to do them, feel free, but for god sake stay the hell away from me and the people I love and care about.

As for supercharged and turbocharged, it looked like a modified turbo, but I didn't see a supercharger on top of the motor spinning, and I could clearly see the coil pack cover.

As for people standing in front, and getting under the hood, fool them for being there, but I personally wouldn't have been doing that kind of stupid in my car, simply not worth the rubber, not worth the chance of human life.

For god sakes, the driver had no chance of seeing anyone, not with the bonnet up like a 16yr with a playboy magazine, and if something have given up, such as a front brake line, the car would have rocketted off into a plume of people.

One day, the brain will be mightier than the penis for some people.

Its only Turbocharged... apart from the fact you cant even hear the supercharger, you do get a glimpse of the massive airpod attached to the turbo.

the guys that do burn outs think they are in control but let me tell you they are just passengers

Quote of the year!

My old man learnt the hard way at a work BBQ some years ago. My mother and I were both employed at the same place and the boss chucked a BBQ and beer blast out the back of one of the warehouses. Dickhead dad went home and got his firebreathing Honda VTR1000 and popped a nice wheelstand while coming down the drive way, landed the front wheel a little skew-wiff and bit the bitumen HARD... got himself pinned between the bike and the bitumen and lost a ton of bark from his leg. $1000 worth of fairing damage, $500 for a new helmet because he took it off and threw it at the brick wall in a fit of rage... but the biggest injury of them all was to his pride.

Never did that again! Mum killed him because there were about 20 kids playing cricket at the back of the car park, but I think the fact I died of laughter in front of everyone was the most painful.

I'm pretty sure I've dropped a bigger burnout than this, but unlike this idiot, I did it at the track under safe conditions. Doing burnouts gets a bit boring after a while.

Dave, kept it at the track mate before you find yourself wrapped around a pole. It may look safe, but roads are very unpredictable, potholes, people, slow cars around and the like.

I thought it was a bit strange when I saw that, must have seriously annoyed the surrounding neighbors and wasted good tyres! Not to mention heating the engine up like that sitting on the spot!?! Plus the risk factor with the people around..........

I own a Skyline GTR as well as the Soarer, burnouts are simple, and skill-less, drift, track racing, hill climbing, etc are things that take skill.

Thing is, a burnout can be had anywhere, you can drop a skid at the lights, but you cant nail a perfect drift while sitting at the lights, and you can hill climb anywhere but the track.

I dont have a problem with burnouts, I have a problem with the chosen locations. People need to understand that it only takes 1 thing to go wrong and there is some serious potential for injury or death.

I have seen plenty of times where someone "in control" finds themselves out of control faster than they can have a bowl movement.

Imagine, your sitting there doing a line-locker, back wheels are pushing 120km/h, the front wheels are locked, smoke everywhere, and a crowd of people standing in front of the car taking photos and having a general great time, THEN the front passenger brake line pops, guess what happens, the car shoots forward, but now you have no brakes, and no control.

Anyone in front of the car is pretty much dead now, all because the drive way WAS NOT the time and place for a fully sik moment.

Take it to the track, I have a great respect for track goers, if something fks up, it's them only that is effected.

Blaine lives in a pretty sparse neighbourhood so i dont think it would have bothered that many during the day! ;)

The tyres were throw-aways i believe also.

When i was at high school a student had his legs broken at the knees (knees broken? >.> ) because an 'old boy' (graduated student) was reving his engine at a cross walk as a group of students crossed to get to another section of the school.
Foot slipped off the clutch and BAM!

Tough crowd guys, really surprising feedback. Sometimes, I wonder if people buy soarer's and only drive them on sundays to the supermarket, then brag about how much the initial price tag of a soarer is to their mates.

For those who commented as such, did you sit around and play scrabble with your grandma on your 21st birthday because you're too scared to live a little ? Take a teaspoon of concrete and harden the f^ck up.

This bloke's a champ, hand crafts turbo kits and builds engines for a living, plenty of track experience and would probably have been more than willing to help any of you out if you stumbled across something he was selling in the future, but thanks for the comments all the same!

Im not going to argue about the kids, fair enough yes the brakes can let go, etc etc etc, I will leave it at that. He lives out in the middle of nowhere and yeah it was on private property.

As far as the charger goes, he has no air conditioning and a dyno sheet to prove it. Listen closely ... Happy to pass on any questions you have.

The driveways clean now, I have no idea how... :-)

i agree i think burnouts are ok but just make sure there isnt a chance of hurting anyone if something goes wrong.. imagine if the engine seized and one of the belts flew off at that speed... ive seen a belt go about 50 meters in the air when a sr20 pushing 550rwhp let go.

yes it was a good burnout, i think everyone else should have been away from car and putting those phones under the bonnet were pretty dam stupid. if it wasnt for these few things you would have got alot of praise for the skid.

i would be interested in seeing this supercharger setup though i reckon some pics would be great.

Im hoping this thread doesnt erupt into some huge debate / keyboard warrior clash but im with you on this one Chris.

As i said, sure it may not have been the best idea in hindsight but these things happen from time to time.

Ill admit to it, i've done some offensive burnouts in my soarer on occasion and enjoyed every minute of it.. except maybe the next day where i realise i put down a good $200 worth of rubber..AHHH well... "live and learn" i guess.

Yes things could have gone wrong but we cant all get stuck into the "what if" game cos then it will never finish.

What if one of the kids got pushed onto the hot turbo

what if one of the tyres blew and radial split some heads

what if the radiator cap blew off and burnt some faces

what if a jumbo jet crashed fell outta the sky and crashed into the soarer right then and there killing everyone..

you get my drift. Im tired, ill leave it there.

Tomorrow im going to have my usual cup of concrete and coffee hahah

I agree James.
There is a trend these days for all & sundry to jump on the "What if" bandwagon, when in reality these worst case scenarios happen VERY infrequently.
(You ALWAYS hear about the bad luck moments, but don't hear about the zillions of times when NOTHING goes pear shaped).

Too bloody right.

I think this thread has been done to death. You're either for skids or against them, and no amount of rebuttal is going to change someone's opinion. Personally I think it's a great penis-measuring wankfest... and I'm sticking to it. Big woop.

Dave sounds like your a really understanding guy! Stick to the v8 mate.

I have a feeling a few people have heard wind of the supercharged turbo soarer, he has designed some pipework for a couple of very quick TT setups, anyway, we are both very keen to come along to an upcoming cruise and he would love to show you all how it works. By all of you I mean those of you who aren't so quick to pass judgement and jump on the danger danger and skepticism bandwagon.

Cheers guys.

I was one of the first to jump on the danger bandwagon and still reckon he's a tosser. Take the drag racer from here that did the big exhibition/promo burnout in the US, lost control and killed a few and crippled a heap of others. Before you go one with the harden up crap, I would have to say grow up. No matter how great a guy he is or how good an engine builder he is doesn't change that it was a dumb thing to do with ppl in front. I do it on the strip were it's safe and controlled.
