As promised, here are some pictures

Upload

No more blinky dash. All fixed, Cleaned and polished inside and out.

Upload

I've cleaned all the junk out from under the car and getting ready to lower it gently back to earth.

Upload

We have touchdown.

Upload

Bleeding the UZZ32 struts. A fairly simple procedure. Messy if the drain line comes out of the drum at the bottom.

Upload

If I didn't have 4 wheel steering I'd never get out of here.

Upload

The bumper and drivers headlight mock up. They're just sitting there for now.

Upload

Front bar on. Cleaned, polished, resealed headlights back in. Just testing everything to see that it works. I found some 50 watt bayonet fitting globes, so I thought they would go really well in the turning lights.

Upload

Just some of the bits I replaced and used, Quickly stacked up beside my car.

Here it is getting the wheel alignment done to make sure it drives like a beauty.

Upload

Parked outside my old work. Fresh roady in the glove box and a booking at vicroads first thing wednesday morning.

Another angle. After finally driving this beast around for a day, I have come to realise that all the hype and glamour surrounding these Active Soarers isTOTALLY JUSTIFIED
And that in the end it has all been worthwile.}

And then I found this black '31. So I parked behind it with a smug, superior smile on my face.

Well. Today I moseyed on up to vic roads, gave them money and they gave me a pair of spanking new number plates and a horrible orange sticker to go in the windscreen.
I found a leak in the aircon which I'll fix up tomorrow.
So I'm finally soaring. Still have a few minor problems to sort out, but I'll keep you all updated on how it goes.
I'm probably going to be leaving Melbourne soon for the country life, but we'll see what eventuates.
I'm getting an immobiliser fitted tomorrow, and some remote locking. Tinted windows later this week.
But mostly I'm just driving. I went through half a tank of fuel today and loving every minute of it.

The cardboard was there when I bought the stands and I didn't bother taking it off.
I'm off now to have an immobiliser fitted and fix up the air con.

Aircon fixed, and it's a beauty.
Immobiliser and remote is now installed.
Nearly time for some more petrol, Yay.
I'll have to run it up on ramps or something and just double check everything again, but it would have to be one of the best things I've ever driven, and definately the best thing I've ever owned.
Its great to have this feeling of just going for a drive 'cause I can.

I have some more photo's. My god I love this car.
I went out and spent half a day washing and polishing the soarer last weekend. Took some pics, nice and clean, eh??
Then I proceded to drive 250 k's to my mums dirt road and get it absolutely filthy.
The problem I now have with this car is that all my old favourite roads are now just boring. It eats them up so effortlessly. I'll have to find some new roads now. Hopefully some good ones on sunday.

Well, It was up on the hoist again this morning. There was a funny clunk from the front end on corrugated roads and when turning over gutters.
Turns out the damn wheel aligners didn't tighten all the bolts properly.
Anyway, hopefully the alignment's not too far out, another thing to do next week.

Yeah Morgs, some tyre shine and clean the wheels.

Apart from that, everything seems to be working nicely. I've still got a lot to do, and will keep updating as things happen.
Eventually I'll have done everything and it'll be back to square one.

A great big thanks to everyone here and to everyone that has helped and offered advice. I would never have been able to do it without you.
Hopefully I'll be able to return some of the lovin' to the soarer community.

Well guys. I've been busy wearing out my soarer. It had it's first service since the rebuild, Done a total of 2380 klms.

I washed it again this morning and all is well.

I'm still working on the steering problem, but I think I've narrowed it down a bit, I will keep posting.

My damn computer crashed and now the hard drive is factus, and I lost all my photo's of the rebuild, and the other stuff I got photo's of, so now all I have is this thread. Better than nothing.

Still enjoying retirement, but running out of money in a hurry, I'll soon have to drag my lazy ass back to work, maybe next year....

That's it for now, Now it's bloody raining so my morning of washing has been wasted.

I found out something new. A while ago there was a post regarding fitting UZZ30/31 Air con compressors to a Uzz32. I cant find the post, but it seems this has been done to mine.

It seems the 32 compressors are around an inch and a half longer then the 30/31 Compressors, due to the extra layer of belts for the 32 hydraulic pump.

Anyway the shorter compressor means that there are only 2 bolts holding the compressor, the third one at the rear doesn't line up.

This has resulted in a harmonic at partial throttle at 5ish thousand RPM.

This led to one of the bolts breaking the other day and the compressor just held by one bolt, which gave a much worse harmonic just off idle when accelerating gently to casually.

It is a bit of a pain removing the compressor, but luckily the bit of broken bolt was able to be wound out with a nail as there is very, very limited tooling at mum's house. If not it would have probably been a remove the big support at the front of the engine kinda job.

To top it off I then had to find a bolt in the town of Maldon, (population under 1000) on new years eve. Luckily I found one in an old scratch box at the local mechanics.

Now to jig up something to hold the rear of the compressor in place.
