Nathan, what have you run down at Hidden Valley?

What is the definition of stock twins? Stock everything, stock dumps, stock cooler? Does port and polish jobs on the stockers count? If so what about high flowed stock turbos?

Anyway, isn't there a thread on here with quarter mile results already?

If the only thing that has to be stock is the turbos, then I reckon I might be on the list with the track car. (well it would be close to the lightest Soarer!)Next time the drags are on I might have to run it.

ive been running low 14's ben but i havent been down to the drags for a while too busy getting defected.
and with stock turbos i mean having 2 untouched ct12's with no work done at all.
dump pipe and fmic are allowed just no work to the turbos at all not even seals.

14.1sec quarter mile was the claimed time for a stock standard pov pack Manual TT. I'd want to be running elevensies before I went making claims about top ten in Australia.

I have the fastest Soarer around Hidden Valley. I have the fastest Soarer around Oran park, both circuits. I have the second fastest soarer around Wakefield Park. You know what I mean.

Don't get me started on drag racing 'records'. I have the worlds fastest factory TT Manual, torsen equipped, black, with a dint in the side, on Toyo R888s, non tubbed, uncaged, stock wheeled, full bodied, right hand drive, JDM,stripped interior, fabricated in the Lipman household, Soarer.

If I see the local off street drags advertised I'll throw the stock rear suspension back in and see how it goes. It would be interesting to see how effective lightening things up actually is. I should done it before I put the cage in.

I might have to google Hidden Valley as I haven't heard anything about drags this year.

Being a manual I would be surprised if it did any better than a mid 12.

You also want firm/hard rear suspension so going back to stock soft springs will only slow you down.

That's the way I am looking at it as well Rob, while I have removed the casting marks and opened out the exhaust inlet a bit, mine are unopened, unmodified internally stock turbos with the ceramic exhaust wheels. The small changes I have done can be done by anyone in a hour or so, the reason mine is going so well is that I have done things that no one else has been bothered to do with stockies.
Why I don't know, as you can make some pretty serious power with them for very little dollar outlay.
Ben - if you have stock turbos and it's in a Soarer the quarter mile time should count.

I never made up the fastest stock turbo Soarer title, it already existed and it gave me a time to try and beat. Personally I am quite proud that I have done it, as it took quite a lot of work to achieve it.

I'm with you on that Jeff, I bought my previous Soarer with the record times already in place (Daniel's 11.89) and I wanted to have some fun with my car so used that as a goal and whilst I didn't beat it, did come very close (.005 away lol) but it was a lot fun in the process, so much so that a couple of months after I sold the car I bought another one and am going a similar path.

Nathan

Hidden Valley drags are on this friday night. I still have a ton of work to do on the car, but if I can I might try and get there and run an 'as is' time just so we can see where it is at.

Hmmm. That goes against what I thought was conventional wisdom. Stock, or very soft rear springs to aid in weight transfer and improve launches. Set up your camber so that it squats to as close to zero as possible.

Good Time Nathan, reaction time has nothing to do with your ET so even if you sit on the start line for 10 seconds it makes no difference the timer only starts when you do.
Post up you time slip so it can be added to the top 10 list.

Yeah, soft in the front for sure and I thought the same in the rear but with the IRS I found that after a bit of reading and comparing the 4 different setups I had in the rear of my old car I found firmer was better than softer as the tyres maintained more of a contact patch with the road. Even with the soft setup it squats down too far you would struggle getting the camber anywhere near 0.

Squat is not good, the weight needs to transfer to the back and stay there. If it comes off to soon you lose traction.

I went to Powercruise on the Sunday. I didn't realise they were timing the drags?

I'm not sure what sort of drags are on next Friday. I didn't see the 'beat the heat' advertised on the Hidden Valley Drags website. I'll have another look.

My stock turbo's did consistent 268 rwkw on 16/17 psi. this was in feb 2012 and two weeks ago again. Stock turbos, on 98 ROn, fmic, stage 2 cams. 200,000kms. Have graphs to prove.

Has anyone beat that?

Mine would be getting fairly close to 300RWKW at about 30psi. I had it dynoed several years ago at 263rwkw at 18psi which is about the same as yours.

IMHO The ""430cc" is correct for the 2jzgte. I've never seen any official toyota info list them as 440cc. I believe the difference arose on forums when people got confused with the supra 440cc injectors from the mk3 7MGTE.
