Hi all, i noticed that whenever i switch my gears from either park/neutral to drive/low gear, there is a violent "jerk" forward of the entire vehicle.
Is there any issues that might contribute to this that i should be aware/worried about?

Honestly, i am unsure where many of the cables are. After reading multiple threads it seems that most people face the same problem with the kickdown cable.

So you reckon should probably loosen the kickdown cable? Any instructions as how i can go about doing it though?

Yeah I reckon your Line pressure switch cable is too tight,

You slacken/tighten the same way you adjust your throttle.

Mounts would yield a clunk moreso.

So kickdown cable affects the initial thrust into drive? Does it also change how the car kicks down after your put your foot down? You know, later, when it kicks into a different gear.

The line pressure cable isn't technically kickdown as such, as the ECU determines when to drop down a gear.
The LPS determines how abruptly it drops into gear judging by tension in the throttle cable. If that makes sense I can't really think of a better way to describe it.
It doesn't determine the speed of the change though as a lot of people think!

If the LPS is very tight (no slack in the cable at all) The clunk from Park or Neutral into gear can be pretty harsh.
I would say Mounts are a likely option too especially if the car has had a bad knock recently.

thanks Richard, we are working with very little info so rather than dismissing any possible cause (Tom), check the easy ones
