I have an old 32 AC comp at work.
You are quite welcome to the rear housing.
You WILL have to remove the comp then swap the rear case but !!

Well, It was up on the hoist again this morning. There was a funny clunk from the front end on corrugated roads and when turning over gutters.
Turns out the damn wheel aligners didn't tighten all the bolts properly.

Dan, can you go into more detail, I had my wheels alligned 5000k's ago and have since noticed a slight clunk noise when turning the car at low speeds and going up driveways / speed bumps... I think it may be the same thing.

It sounds like the same thing, Morgs....

I found the front castor bolts (at the rear of the lower control arm) slightly loose. I tightened them and the clunk went away. I also checked all the bolts and a couple of others were not loose, but not torqued correctly.

I then went back to get the alignment checked to make sure it hadn't moved. They told me the only thing out was the left (or right) rear camber, which they then fixed???

1 day and 50 km later the steering wheel is off center.

If anyone knows a decent aligner in Melbourne let me know.

Cheers Dan, with the loose bolt, what would make the clunking noise, surely not the bolt?

Thanks again.

The A.holes at the tyre place I went to did not tighten the caster bolts on mine either. I now have had to organise a new crossmember as the bolt turned around and chopped all the locator lugs off the end.

Nah, Morgs, the clunk is probably the whole control arm moving around. It could be the bolts too, a bit.

Does any one have an alining machine that they would let me use/ borrow/ hire/ steal so that I can do it myself???

I didn't get to the tyre place today, I'll see tomorrow

I suspect what you say about the noise is probably right, but it's a bit odd that it happened just after a wheel alignment and only on the one side, not evenly., it doesn't add up.

Will keep you posted, maybe we can change this thread to the Morgan / Dan thread :P

Maybe.

And maybe they only left one side loose.

Good luck with it. Also, you said a while ago you could hook me up with a standard TT 16 in wheel????

Well, guys, It's been a while since I've done an update here. It's also been a while since I've had any time to play around with the car.

I've had a good week this week, and got a bit done.

My new radiator top tank had a small leak around the tank, unfortunately I am now 300km away from the place that did the tank.
I tightened up the little bits that hold the tank on, and that almost fixed it. I then found a very tiny crack which I have sealed up with aviation grade two part structural sealant after I sort of welded it up.
Now there is only the tiniest of weeps, but it will survive until I can get it back to the radiator joint.

My climate control had quite large temperature variations when set on one temperature and I often had to change the temp setting to be comfortable.
It turned out that the guy who fitted my immobiliser didn't put the little temp sensor back in its correct place behind the dash. I put that back into position and it seems better.

Some of you may know of my power steering problems. I finally got around to flushing the system this arvo.
First, after finally getting the old, hard hoses off the brittle plastic reservoir with out breaking anything and then draining the reservoir, I found about 2 or 3 filters built into the reservoir. there was a ton of gunge in there. Almost looked like someone had tipped a pot of radiator stop leak in there.
I thought I best remove the reservoir and give it a proper flush out. Well, that was easier thought than done. Anyway, got that off, and carefully, oh so carefully, scraped out what gunge I could and then gave it a really good washout with avgas. When it was nice and clean I hooked up the suction pipe and replaced the reservoir.
Then gave it a flush as per Reepa's site. My golly the fluid comes out quick, 2 liters gives you about enought time to go from one lock to the other and back again really quickly.
4 liters of Transmax Z later it's time to reconnect everything and wash out all the spillage.
(I had to do this in a paddock and there was no other options where I am at the moment.
Anyway another couple of liters of avgas and everything is washed out nicely.

I let it dry off for a while, and tightend up the power steering/suspension belt and it seems better. Time will tell if it is or not, maybe another flush next time I have some time might be better. I'll try and get a hoist so I can crack open the fittings at the rear rack and let the clean fluid flush through there.

The rear rack did seem very keen for a while, a little hyperactive perhaps, but after a bit of a drive it seems to have settled down.

I also found a blitz speed cut remover. I seems to work fine, with no gear change issues that the RSM seems to have.
I also found the cruise control will maintain any set speed above 180ks as well.

I was getting a brake fluid level bing whenever I put the handbrake on. It was related to a low fluid level, but I never got the bing at other times.

Well, a bit more done the last couple of days.

My fan oil went from full to empty in the space of an hour, :-( it may have been a leak or an air bubble?? I changed a hose clamp on the pump inlet and topped it up and no sign of a further leak, :-) So I'm not too sure about that one.

I pulled a jap handbrake overide out and all of the EMV functions that weren't working are now working. :-) If anyone wants a jap handbrake overide they can have it for the price of postage. It's a Field brand.

I had a bit of a play with suspension and alignments and what not, and did a better job with a tapemeasure and a spirit level than the last 2 aligners did with lasers. :-)

My new radiator top tank is weeping a bit, :-( so try to make time to get it back to the shop that did it, which is unfortunately about 200 k's away now. :-(

I bought a set of 17" supra wheels from greg host, :-) unbenowns to me one of them was square with a bloody great crack in it, :-( so now I need to get that repaired or find another one. :-(

Apart from that, the old girl's been running fine, :-) it's due for another service (90K) which I'll do early next week. It's been a bit neglected lately and I've hardly driven it for the last 2 months. :-( (It's a hard life but I've been flying to work every day). :-)

I may have found the problem I was having with my steering, :-) I found the plug that connects to the pressure sensor had a pin bent over in it.
I've not driven it since but I remain hopeful.

Good night for now.

I got about 15 of those handbrake override thingys. Free to a good home as above (not worth having in my opinion!!!)

Which of the Supra wheels is bent? 8" or 9.5"?
One of my sets has a suspect front one (8").
Maybe we can make a good set from 2.

It's one of the 8" wheels that's fuctus.

I got a brief 4WS error when I re-connected the plug on the rack the other day. I ran diagnostics this morning and it came up with a 4WS error 63. I've looked all morning and can't find what this is. Can anyone help??

The error only flashed up for 5 seconds and went away, and I think if I reset then the code will be gone, but I'd like to know what the code means.

I did have a look there mate, but it doesn't list any 4WS codes.

Some more.

I found the source of the oil leak, The fan pump has a small crack in the housing where the A/C comp bolts onto it. :-( So A/c off, fan pump off, yell, swear, etc etc. Now to repair or find another one. Unfortunately it would seem they are unique to the UZZ32, the '30s and '31s have a slightly different pump. :-(

I also have fitted a new rear housing to the A/C comp so that it can bolt up more securely. (I suspect this may have been the cause of the afformentioned crack. :-(

I'll also try and get a bit of other stuff done, a new 4WS link to be fitted and a bit of general cleaning and tidying.

Still unsure if the steering is OK or still :-(

May be back on the road by christmas. :-(

cars. :-(

At least it's getting a service while I go.
