I may be getting a set of 18's in the near future, and was wondering if I'd need a wheel allignment with them on? My car seems to be driving smoothly now.
You're right Peter, that may be a factor. Take it to someone that knows about wheel alignments. Other Melbourne people should be able to give you a name of a good place.
Give them the sheet with the figures and tell them your wheel offset and the factory offset (+50).
I've had a good run with Pedders in Brunswick, they have worked on many Soarers, including my old one, as well. A good wheel alignment can be very hard to find.

I have got a new set of 17" wheels which replaced an old set. Thing is someone told me that the offset is probably wrong. The wheels also havent been aligned yet should i use the factory settings considering a different wheel size? Are there settings which will compensate for the lack of offset or too much?

May seem like a dumb question, but what does a wheel alignment do? I got my 18's very recently, and the car actually seems a lot more smoother then my older tyres.

they adjust your camber, caster and toe to make sure that the wheels are "aligned" correctly hehe this will ensure that the car doesn't pull to either side, and that the tyres wear evenly.

Im not sure what the offset is or how to find out, but im pretty sure that whatever it is i dont have enough of it as i get a fair bit of tramlining. Can anyone recommend a good alignment place as i have been told that a lot of places know bugger all about camber/castor settings

I've been using Pedders in Hornsby. Don't know how much they know but they sound knowledgeable and they take their time to do it. Last time it was 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

Can anyone tell me a soarer wheel alignment expert near Caboolture Qld. and how much they cost? I got Fulcrum at Caboolture to do it but am not sure that they knew what they were doing as the guy didn't know the rear needed doing, I had to tell him even after I had given him a piece of paper with the specs on it. I have just fitted new tyres and don't want them wearing unevenly. Cheers John
Both the lateral LCA's control toe and camber so getting everything back there to line up in a 15-20 year old car that may or may not be using original bushes can be hard. Especially hard if you don't see Soarer's often.
