put one rear wheel in really slippery mud.If you can drive away then you have an aftermarket LSD, if you can't, then you have either an open wheeler or a torsen LSD.( a torsen wont lock up if one wheel has zero traction.I promise-it is a proven fact)). You have already said that it has a lsd.. I'm guessing you did a quick burnout to confirm.

It does have to be zero traction though. Any traction at all will be multiplied to the other wheel which can make this test difficult. This is a function of the Torsen design. "Torsen" really does stand for "torque-sensing".

not really burn outs as such, tyres are too expensive, waiting to get some cheap stock rims first (Anyone selling any?) but it kicks out around corners like an lsd and takes off from the lights drifting out like an lsd. What should I look for on the chassis plate? Cheers.

Oh dear! Dare I mention Search...? Did anyone say that?
Since I am being fantastically patient today, look for the line "Trans/Axle" and see if the group of numbers ends in "A" or "B". Tell us the answer while we keep you in suspense over which means what, or you can search and know for yourself.

the numbers end in A, from my search this means its not an lsd i believe. Looks like someone changed it somewhere along the line, coz as I said, it kicks like lsd.

all your ideads are great, really. but you all missed the easiest way to tell.
Jack your car up. turn 1 wheel while its in the air. what does the other do? if it spins the same direction its an lsd of some sort. if they spin opposite directions its on open wheeler.

I tried this before checking my chassis plate to see what I have, and I left a nice dark 2 wheeler out of my driveway, and thought "sweet, it's a Torsen or at least LSD".
Anyway, it turns out I really have an open wheeler, and it was just luck that both rear brakes let go equally and she slide sideways and smoked up nicely...

To pick a Torsen as an LSD, that is just rubbish. Re-read this thread and do some searching if you still do not get it.
