My car is a 91 UZZ31, that says it has A01A (non lsd) however, my speedo is out by about 5km/h

And this afternoon on my driveway, I thought I'd try a small burnout on wet bricks - one foot on the accelerator and one foot on the brake. The car kicked sideways ever so slightly and the pictures are the result.

I'm honestly not sure if I do, but it would explain the speedo reading 5km/h higher, as the twin turbo torsen diffs have different ratios.
Guess another way to find out would be to put it on a hoist and turn the wheels?
What do you guys think?

ONly real way to tell is remove diff and back plate and look at the guts inside . I had a single spinner that spun both wheels for 12 mths .... then went splat !

That's what my father told me too. Odd that a single spinner would spin both wheels, but there you go!

Soarer diffs have a habbit of spinning two wheels when going straight.

And its even more likely (For pretty much any car) to spin two wheels in the wet.

go do some donuts in the dry, if the car doesn't kick out its open diff :-)

Donuts in the dry are no more an answer than the tests you did or proposed, James. Take Daniel's advice, or if you really want to try an indirect method then stick one rear wheel on something slippery (e.g. wet grass) and the other on bitumen and accelerate. Jacking it up is useful only if your next step is to remove the back plate on the diff. Any test involving rotating one wheel against the other is derived from somebody's ignorance, as are all possible burnout methods.

Donuts are an answer.

Due to the fact that you're putting all the load on one tyre, an open diff will spin the inside tyre.

Its not many times a open diff will spin two when you have all the load on one tyre unless you flick it from side to side.

I'd prefer to avoid doing any more burnouts or donuts considering the tires are toyo proxy r's, and would cost a pretty penny to replace.

So short of opening it up, my other options are rather limited! haha

I have a 4.11 Torsen in my UZZ30 and the speedo is out 7kph.

The gen 1 Torsen's will actually allow one wheel to stop and put all power to the other wheel. Something to do with the requiring some traction to actually initiate the torque biasing.

The later model Torsen's will always have both wheels spinning as they modified them.

Like I said James, two different traction surfaces, e.g wet grass and bitumen for a wheel each. No burnout required.

It would appear that when I did the burnout earlier in the week my diff locked up - it's an open diff. Tried another one today, did a good job at it but had only one wheel spinning up.
Still not sure why the speedo is out. This could be due to a different diff ratio or odd sized whee/tire combo.
