Hi guys, last time this noise appeared a month before my diff went BANG and locked it self. The noise was a rumbling type noise and i didn't know where it came from. After replacing the diff the noise was gone. YAY! 4 months later the noise is back again ...FFS! I went under the car to check the diff oil, still clean and no metal shavings or particles. The noise happens offten when i turn in a bend or corner. It gets even louder when i accelerate a bit. Could this be the diff or power steering?

Yeah a torsen diff is money well spent.

Most suspension and brake places should be able to check it out for you.

Sounds like the diff is rooted... again.

I cannot understand why Toyota opted for a 2 pinion diff when it should have had a 4 pinion diff considering the torque output of the 1J and 2J as well as the V8. Just one of those things that engineers at toyota overlooked when making the soarer - probably a carry on design from the MA70 Supra and GZ20 soarer.

Wheel bearings should make a constant noise if they are damaged, regardless of cornering. Get a Torsen LSD + Redline Oil and you will be set :-)

The Z30/A80 diff is different and stronger than the Z20/A70 ones and is completely fine for its intended purpose. Any combination of dragstrip starts, single peggers or significantly more horsepower is not "intended use" and will kill *any* open diff eventually. I dont see how it is reasonable to expect anything different?
