I actually quite agree with you in terms of how much it will help in the rigidity.
But I was actually quite amazed at what a front strut brace did for my handling and the sway bar were of course... even more obvious. So I was curious about this weird looking brace.
There is also a very weird bracket undercarriage... that is below the drive shaft, above the cat-back exhaust and in front of the diff. Apparently that's a straight 4 bolt factory brace that a lot of shops leave off when installing new exhausts that apparently makes a difference to overall rigidity when its not there.

sorry bud but the only thing near where your describing is a hat section bracket and the only thing its there for is to protect the rubber drive shaft coupling for the heat. and much more to point exhaust shops shouldn't touch it.
cheers matt

floor brace.
Doesn't look high enough to go over the trans tunnel. I reckon it goes under the car and over the tail shaft.
My own testing has shown me how bad the flex is in the front end of a Soarer. My rigid front strut brace did heaps to eliminate this flex.
If you are keen- take some measurements between the rear strut towers when you jack up one corner of the car compared to flat on the ground. The n do the same measurement with the brace fitted. If there is no difference, then sell the brace to a ricer and spend the cash on tyres. Or CD's. Or something useful.

I know the brackets you are talking about. It's not what I mean though.
I had made the mistake of saying that exhaust shops remove it... I was wrong. Its mechanical workshops... and they remove it when they are taking out the drive shaft.
So that may have misled you to point to the heat shield brackets.
