Hi all,

Just purchased a set of Tein Super Streets and I have the coil seats wound all the way down on the rears, but the car is still sitting higher than I like.

I'd probably like to go somewhere around 10-20mm lower.
So what would be the best way to go about this?
Im guessing either shorter springs, or same length but softer springs perhaps so they compress more? Or any better ideas?

And if going shorter springs, would i then need to add helper springs to keep the springs captive?

This is how it currently sits:

Yeah it is not sitting high now, but I have always had it lower than this. And it would be nice to have the option to go higher or lower as should be the case with coilovers.

Yes my angle grinder was introduced to my springs years ago and it looked good, ride wasnt too bad, but prefer something a bit more legal now that im all grown up ;)

So which would be better, softer springs or shorter springs?

If they're new coilovers they will settle a tiny bit and drop a couple more mm..but probably not as much as you want.

Shorter springs would probably be the best way to go i think..

lol im lucky to get that height at full setting on high with mine!!!
this is highest setting with my jic's
i wouldnt go about cutting any springs.. you may want to look into finding another spring that is shorter but has the same spring rate.. either that or sell and go for a different set that can go lower

Hey Aaron, yeh no way im cutting springs, but trying to decide best option here. I mean i just bought them on the weekend, but i definitely want lower.

Are you springs still captive when wound down low? Or do u have helper springs?

Mine is fully up so it always has a preload on the spring. So mine wont be going anywhere.
Did you buy them new maybe you can ask for exchange springs?

Or... Leave it at that height and get a lip kit :-) make the body look lower haha.. Cause trust me any lower than that you will have trouble getting anywhere

Oh of course. What is the ride quality like on yours, very bumpy?

What is the length of your springs?

Nah mine are second hand.
