Hey hey. New member here, as the title says, one day out of the blue I go to crank the car, it starts, however I do not hear the pump. Switch is `on` in the boot, diagnostic port in boot doesn't seem to work either, when bridged on the correct pins.

Blown fuse? failed pump? where is the fuse box located to check these and how to access it?

Also if this helps, the TEMS switch clicks, but no notification LED on the dashboard as previously. Are both problems related?

Any help would be great. Thanks a lot (:

there is a fuse in the engine bay
30amp? think its the only yellow one
its on the passanger side of car black box near battery and has 2 flat head screws to undo.

and there is also 1 inside the car drivers foot well
pull back carpet just in front of drivers door to reveal. and you should have a cover saying what fuse is where.

Update: okay so the battery was flat today, I started the car up and heard the pump!
however it seemed it was just trying to pump up the front left strut, as I used a test lamp on the diagnostic plug in the boot and that was the only solenoid that lit up the test lamp, despite the front right also being low..

However after a while the pump stopped with the strut still low, and I turned the car off and back on which I then couldn't hear the pump again.

the suspension fuse in the engine fusebox is okay, I haven't checked the one near the kick panel yet....

I'm running out of ideas now. Someone help my beloved UZ31 ):

Yeah and the last thing I want to do is switch to coilovers, one of the main reasons I bought a UZ31 was for the airbags.

Edit: also still the TEMS light doesn't switch on, despite hearing the switch 'click'

Tried another air sus computer?

It may be the pump is at the end of its life.

When my pump stopped working, my car would sit low, the pump would come on and off intermittently, sometimes jacking the car high enough, other times not. I think this was more the car hitting bumps and allowing the pump to spin up. It was like the pump was getting stuck.

The pump doesn't give any error codes or anything on the dash when it stops working.

How this relates to the TEMS is another thing. I don't think they are linked in terms of control. Maybe someone else knows if the air sus computer has anything to do with this?

Ah, if the pump on its way out, that could be a problem, as I used to hear it on and off A LOT, probably due to a leaky front strut I'm thinking.

Oh yeah, I also have an aftermarket height controller as well, but I seldom if ever use that as it hasn't seemed to cause a problem, but maybe it -is- the problem?

Okay so I've read that the sus computer is behind the rear seat, and the -height- computer is in the passenger door?

Should I check both? and remove the aftermarket controller?

Hopefully this fixes it and I can finally drive ^_^

I'd remove the after market controller.

The air sus comp is behind the passenger seat in the side panel below the seat belt. Have a search, there is probably a tut on how to get to it.

The aftermarket controller can be anywhere. In the door is a weird spot they have controls and displays. It sounds more like the aftermarket setup is a set of pots etc, that are used to adjust the height. These sit in with the air sus comp. I have heard this setup can cause problems. I think some caps leak or something. This type may be spliced into the wiring loom, yuck.

i had an after market controller that wasnt connected when i brought the car, i connected it up because the (normal) switch wasnt working. so the controller worked, but the air suspension was doing weird and wacky heights. after i disconnected it the normal switch worked. well not now. i suggest just using the standard hight set ups. 'normal' & 'high'.

Hey guys, I think I finally found out the issue. IT turns out the front left strut is -very- leaky. I jacked up the front of the car and the strut started to raise, level and then the pump shut off once it leveled all other struts.

Then as I lowered the car back down, the pump kicked in again and couldn't raise the front left strut, I saw the strut start to fall. I wound the relief valve one turn in, in the boot and tried again, to same result. I checked the air line nut and it seems to be tight so it wasn't leaking from that but you can hear a hiss.

That could explain why TEMS isn't working if one strut isn't at proper operating pressure.

I'll let you guys know once I change the strut if it fixes the problem (:

thanks for all your suggestions and help guys, much appreciated.

Edit: footwell fuse box fuse was blown, replaced, TEMS lights up on dash now. That's one thing fixed at least (:
