I've just had to take off another tyre which has full tread on 90% of the tyre the inside is chopped up to the metal with little km's.

I've had countless allignments and camber adjustments on it to flatten the wheel (as I highway drive heaps) but it keeps cutting my wheels something shocking. What could some problems be cos it has to be more than camber and allignment. It's very expensive and frustrating going through many tyres with so much meat on them

Worn bushes, allowing the alignment to move around and wander during driving.

Also could be alignment. I've never had an alignment that I've been happy with from a shop. I do it myself with a level and a stringline.

I have a feeling it might be brushes but then again there are lots of stupid monkeys operating wrenches in geelong.

chance it can be your bushes, rack bushes, ball joints, wheel bearing? check ride height too incase you have a sagged strut top or spring.
hasnt had accident damage? could have a bent arm?

also too i doubt countless people are bad at a wheel alignment, a problem can be the machine they use could need calibration, the machine may have incorrect specs, is your car lowered? they may do the specs to standard height which will be way out with suspension movement if your car is lowered. so check the front, and the rear bushes and arms and heights etc.

suffering the same problems at the moment. Just had another set of brand new tyres put on the front and another alignment to take it back to how it comes from factory. I will see how that goes.

its not camber causing the inside edge chewing out, its toe - in your case, too much toe out

A common culprit for this is a worn steering rack and/or tie rod ends and/or ball joints - the slop in these areas makes it difficult for anyone to adjust toe with any precision, hence why people say they've had alignments done more than once and it didnt fix the problem

Thanks everyone

A mate o mine and I took the assembly apart and found that the bushes needed to be replaced and that the ball joint was absolutely rooted which is why the allignment kept going.

Lesson learnt.

Peter, if he's anythin like me then that would definately be the case...

but you would agree that finding the root cause of the problem is the real aim of the game :-)

Hey Lachie what did you end up doin about the rooted ball joints mate??

I do agree Matthew, it's always good to get feedback including what eventually solves the problem.
