Went to Pedders today to get there test done, this is what they came up with

Replace Airbag Suspension with Coilovers $2459.00
Lower Control Arm Bent, replace both (fitting only as they couldnt find part $240

Rear Upper control arm bushes worn $540
SWay bar link ball joint worn $201

Question, are these all jobs that can be done at home, obviously the labor cost saving would be huge

All work can be done at home, new lower control arms are available from Ebay - USA. These will work when you replace the Airbags with Coilovers. Sway bar links are available on Ebay.

Blistein Supra shocks can be had for cheap. Even if you paid for install it would work out to be under $700 all up. You will be a premium for Pedders.

The biggest problem with the 20 year old air suspension is the useless old shockers. New air suspension is brilliant but expensive. I replaced all four units for about $3000 a few years ago.

It is still soft or is it much firmer?

Unfortunately the airbag suspension has to go, will do work at home for half the amount that pedders want

Has anyone attempted reconditioning the air sus struts?

Depends what you want really, air bag suspension is the softest suspension option.

Standard JZZ30, JZZ31 and UZZ30 coils spring rate is 7.4kg/mm up front and 3.0-3.6km/mm at the rear.

UZZ31 air shocks are considerably softer. When new specs are:

"Norm"
Front - 4.1kg/mm
Rear - 1.8kg/mm

"Sport"
Front - 6.3kg/mm
Rear - 2.7kg/mm

Tim, I think they could be serviced if someone was keen enough. From what I can see it's a harder job than UZZ32 strut work.

Seems the bag is crimped on in two places and the strut itself quite a unique design with additional parts welded on so the bag can attach.

Whether or not the air shock itself can be replaced is questionable, you would need to do some welding and that would stuff a new shock, so I'd say dismantling and rebuilding the old shocks would be the only way.
