I took my v8 soarer to get it re- aircondition but apparently when he filled it with gas no cool air was coming through he told me that it was definely an electric problem , so im confuse whats does my electrics have to do with the air-condition
The electrics do a number of things to make the air conditioning work.
1. A/C Button. Used to turn on the Air conditioning. Bad contact in the button and you won't be able to turn on the a/c
2. Engage the Magnetic Clutch on the A/C Compressor, allowing the a/c compressor to spin using the power of the pulley to compress gas in order for the system to work. Bad relay for the A/C Magnetic clutch and the compressor will not engage
3. Move flaps around near the heater core to switch from hot air from the heater core to cold air from the a/c evaporator.
3. High and Low pressure switches, These sense pressures in the system, if the pressure goes too high or too low too activate a switch, the system will shut down, or in the case of too low pressure wont even turn on if you try to turn it on. Too high pressure and the a/c fan will come on. A bad low pressure switch and the A/C wont work.
4. Blower, this is a fan that blows air across the evaporator so the cold air can reach you. If this fan is not working cold air will not reach you.
So that is what electronics have to do with air conditioning.
Hopefully the a/c tech did not reclaim the gas, so If you still have gas in the system, you can begin diagnosing the cause.
First of all let's check if your A/C Clutch is engaging. If you know where your a/c compressor is look at the frontmost of it, infront of the belt. There should be a flange there, when the engine is on and a/c off it should not spin, now turn the a/c on, the flange infront of the pulley should begin spinning. If it does not spin then that is the problem, a/c clutch not engaging.
Remember like I said you need gas in the system to test this. Did your a/c tech say anything other than "it's definitely the electrics"
