My C-F Celsior came with an aftermarket Stereo and I want to replace it with a stock head unit that originally came with the car for full function ability.
I managed to get the head unit from a guy in Japan and idenified the one I needed from another forum, this is what it looks like.
Spec No. KEH-M9751Zt 4 ohms
Now I got some questions.
I took the car and stereo to a car audio specialist and without really looking at the car he was'nt willing to say he could definately get the stereo working, he said without the original amp the stereo would be useless but im not sure if he meant he could use an aftermarket amp or would need an original one(Then again I think I read somewhere that the pioneer unit has an inbuilt amp?). Im not sure if all the original plugs would still be their, mostly worried about the audio plugs as I think they would've butchered the original plugs to fit the wires to the aftermarket stereo, assuming that, finding audio plugs would'nt be that hard and can they just re-attatch the old wires back into the plugs If I need to track them down? I've got no subwoofer, its a pretty easy job to fit an aftermarket subwoofer assuming I buy another amp or something?
I had a breif look behind the stereo without removing the air con unit thingy as all those orange wires scared the hell out of me, I can see two big blue plugs that would fit in the bottom part of the stereo to the left and centre, I cant remember if I saw other plugs laying around but reviewing the pictures I took maybe its the ones attatched to those white plugs? Notice that one of the white plugs has a blue one attatched, the aftermarket stereo is a Pioneer as well, Can anyone recognise all those white plugs or would they be adapted for the orignal Celsior plugs for the aftermarket stereo? I really dont want to take the car apart again and I did'nt realise all this at the time.
Basically I dont know much about car audio and just want to get the orginal head unit fitted and working with all the orginal speakers, Cd stacker, rear audio controls and fit an aftermarket subwoofer, anyone out their who knows anything about the Celsior Audio system?

Mark is the resident expert but it appears from your pics that all the plugs may well be there. They may have used adapters to fit the aftermarket unit by the look of it (white plugs in pic). The two plugs in your hand are definately the plugs that go in the lower two sockets in your pic, I would assume one is for the stacker and one is possibly the sub amp. The bright white socket (4 pins) on the stereo looks like it would be power and the top two sockets the outputs to the speakers. The plugs will only go into your new original stereo one way so I'd try and see if you can unplug the old and plug in the new and see where you stand from there.

Funny that I only start to realise these things as as I type out the message(about the white adapters?), I've got another couple of pictures taken from the top, I went to the car audio guy without really looking at what happened to the original audio wiring, I saw all these wires headed to the aftermarket stereo and not where they went/attatched.
I might've considering fitting the stereo myself apart from the fact that I got no idea about those frequency expanders fit, the aftermarket stereo has one, Im just going to take it to a proffesional to get it all done.

That all looks very promising... It appears they may have done a professional job with adapters and not butchered any wires. The only add on wire looks to be the red single wire that is crimp-locked onto a wire in the top pic. May be for illumination/power for something else in the car though.

It looks like everything is there. The extra wire is probably for the expander. Just plug it into the antenna socket like the aftermarket stereo and it should all work. The great thing about toyota stereo wiring is that the plugs will only fit where they are supposed to.

I got the stereo installed by a mate a couple of weeks ago and it was all working fine until today, the cd changer does'nt seem to be working properly or its the problem with the stereo, sometimes the eject button light is'nt lite, it does eject the cd cartridge and go back in but I can't select the cd by pressing the "CD" button on the stereo itself, it just does'nt do anything, not sure whats wrong, any ideas?

Don't really know but i have an aftermarket dvd player in my soarer and when the eject button isn't lit it means there's no cd in there, maybe the fact that it's not lit means the stereo isn't recognising that it's there and therefore wont play...?

The eject button light is wired to the boot light in the Soarer, probably the same for Celsior. If the CD button is not lit then the CD stacker is not responding or has no disc; could be just dirt on the laser. Does it seem to load the cartridge properly? If so try a lens cleaner disc in the first slot of the cartridge.

Haha, Simple problem simple solution, I put my hands underneath the cd changer and pulled up and as I did the eject light dimmed and died and came back to life as I pulled so I took the boot lining apart again, turns out a connection had come loose, obviously from when I tried to tell if the original subwoofer amplifier was still their(underneath the cd changer), it was that box ontop of the cd changer where the connection had come loose, it all works fine again!
