Gday Gents,

Just wondering on low does everyone else go, The fellow I purchased my car off had it all preset and i have never changed it, although i feel the front could be lower. Just wondering what kind of safe minimum I should have from the top of the tyre to the bottom of the front guard.

Also is it safe to have the TEMS on normal when the car is lowered, I have never done this as I was afraid of the extra travel in the suspension might make the tyres rub on big bumps.

If anyone can give a rough explaintion of how to set and save new presets I could have a play around myself but my user manual is in Japanese and I dont want to mess with settings im not ment to.

Cheers for any help guys.

Be aware that ideally you should also get a wheel alignment done and have the LCA's loosened and tightened again if you lower the car.

I'm pretty sure that is the one,

Its pretty fancy, has a blue screen, the unit is silver in colour. Can tell me things like speed, current height. It has four buttons on it (well it looks like two, plastic chrome button one on each side of the screen).

I looked under the unit and on top of it, where is the model number stated?

Cheers for any help.

sounds like a 64x series... It's safe to run tems on when the car is a bit lower, but not super low. That = stuffed bags. I ran mine just below medium on front and back, and it gave it enough room for the bags to move, but it was still fairly stiff so I never had any dramas :-)

Thanks Simon,

So your saying that having your car lowered with the suspension on sports is worse for the bags then having it on normal???

If thats the case I will set it back to normal.

I have had it set on sports because I was affraid the extra travel may cause a wear issue and even increase the change of rubbing the tyres on the guards if I hit a big bump.

I will try get some pictures of my car to show you how low I drive with it. Definetly Alot lower then stock but not as low as it can go.

Im just affraid of doing it wrong and I dont want to experiment if im just guessing on how to use the controller.

Thanks again.

Peter: You say the LCA's need to been loosened and tighten'd again, what exactly down LCA stand for as im not sure what you are reffering to.

Simon: You said having TEMS on when the car is lowered is bad or the bags, When you says "TEMS on" are you reffering to the sports (firm/hard) mode? as saying TEMS could mean either setting.

I worked out how to set the speed alarm on it, pretty nifty has a stage 1 alarm and a stage 2.

But still cant work out how to change the height settings and save them.

I want a setting so its fully raised in the front and dumped in the back when its parked up for fun.

LCA = Lower Control Arm. The LCA bushes are "locked" in and don't move. The movement as the wheel goes up and down is supplied by the rubber twisting. So if you lower the car, the rubber is no longer at rest when the car is just sitting, but always being twisted to some extent. Bumps then twist it even more, causing them to fail a lot sooner.

Loosening with the car at your preferred ride height, allows the LCA bushes to settle at this position so bump movement either way is within the range that the bush can handle.

A wheel alignment should then also be done, in fact the wheel alignment guy can do the loosen/tighten trick while he is doing the alignment. Make sure to ask them.

I run mine on 5 at the front, 6 at the back.
Car has no front lip so I only raise and lower it at places i know I will scrape, I use the TEMS height button to raise it, that is enough to bring it back up to stock height.

this is how is sits.

David. Nothing wrong with Tems on sports or normal mode. It's when you have your aftermarket controller on really low, that stuffs your bags. Running it just below middle on the controller should be fine.

And you can dump it when it's parked that's fine. Just don't drive on it parked. the Tems sport one i ran my car on all the time. It keeps the bags firmer, stiffer suspension, better handling on the car etc.
