Let the maintenance update begin: 1) air conditioning
For the last few months I've had the crazy squeal coming from my air conditioning compressor on the Celsior. When investigating in Sydney the refurbishment/replacement job was going to cost somewhere between $1000 & $1500 to fix. I wasn't impressed.
Finally I found a link on EBay that seemed almost too good to be true. Reconditioned air con compressors for the LS400 for US$250 with clutch. They even had a best offer option, of which I made an offer of US$230 & they accepted. Shipping was US$91.00, so a total of US$321 (A$382.00 - about $400 - 500 cheaper that I could get it done locally).
The re-gas & new valve was $130 and the labour was about $340.
All up fitted & regassed was $850. If I had have fitted it myself, it would have been a $500 job.
It has been in for a couple of months now & is running perfectly.
I know there are a few of you guys experiencing the same issue of air con, so I thought I'd post the link...

This might be a better option than one I was considering , later model low mileage units can be had quite cheaply from Japan , however the freight due to the weight [how about that for being a poet !!] puts them around the $300.00 mark in my hands . Will have to do some more research .
I've contacted andrew and was quoted the following for my 1990 celsior:
-Compressor TA2302. I can supply this compressor as a remanufactured item only. Cost is $475.00 + GST -Receiver Drier FD1005. Cost $20 + GST -Evaporator. No part number. Cost $400 + GST. I will need 2 days to obtain this part. -Condenser. Not available as an aftermarket part. Genuine only item.
Alternatively here is another site if you want to but from oversea from ebay
