I can buy a set of 'Tanabe' springs for $430.00 and which are around 40mm lower than standard (which is what I was after). My question is, can I use my standard shocks successfully and without loosing too much ride quality?

Hey there, have a look at the 2 types of coilovers they sell on ebay. The G4 coilover is worth $599 and the D2 is worth $699. I have heard the D2 is a decent brand/quality product. Maybe loo into them. Ive got HSD coilovers in mine, they were used but damn they really surprised me in the quality. For the price your talking about it isnt too much of a stretch to coilovers and you wont be dissappointed. Hope that helps you

No problem, Well i suppose speaking from experience that HSD's are awesome. I had trust coilovers on my last car and they were great too but i still feel hsd's are better. Goodluck with it.

Hey Mike.
Have a look at the threads on clublexus, there are coil overs, and there are coil overs mate.
A 1700KG car really needs good inserts and springs. Have been in cars ith generic (Ksport, D2, G4, Isc, HD, etc...) they suck.
Your are kind of stuck ith spending either 1600 on Megan Racing, and they are okay, or over 2k on some really good JIC Magic FLT-TAR VIP coilovers. They are awesome, designed specifically for the heavy VIP cars to get lo as possible.
To be honest, if you just ant to fit some 17" or 18" ith medium profile tyres (say 40 at most) then a 35mm drop ith springs only does the job ithout too much compromise. Yes, I should really fix my 'double you' key.
