Hi guys,

My Celsior had an aftermarket suspension controller in it when I bought it but it seems to be really slow. From what I can make out the model is a Datasystems AST.

Is has 15 step height adjustment and includes two presets and an 'off' mode where the height is set my the switch in the centre compartment.

What I mean by it's slow is if I change the height settings on the controller or change between the two presets it takes about 3-5 minutes to sit there and think about it and then proceeds to raise or lower. If I swap between a preset to the 'off' mode it takes about 30 seconds and the same in reverse.

If I have the controller on 9-9 and then change it to 'off', turn the car off and then turn the car back on (or pull the plug from the controller) it happens straight away.

Is there a 'faster' controller on the market or is this just part and parcel of having an aftermarket controller with the stock setup?

Thanks guys,

MC

hen changing from 9-9 (the SPL lo setting, it oftens takes it damn time if you only go up a couple of steps. Changing to OFF, NORM or max high (i think that is H-H) it responds much quicker.

I have the ASG63X from Datasytems.

The only 'solution' I can think of is to adjust the levelling rods located near the suspension stuts/knuckles and change them so that the 9 9 setting is too damn lo (such a thing exist :-)), and then use 8 8 instead.

Might help, probably not though.

Oh wow, I didn't know that was possible.

I might give that a go, do you think I'll be able to get it to go lower than this?

Having seen mine with ZERO air in the bags, yeah, you can get major 'tuck' with 19s and 30 profiles.

This is as low as mine gets on SPL setting 9 9.
I should have taken a photo of it when i had all the air out. Just imagine a good chunk of the rim sitting under the arch. Perfect for posing :-)

Haha, nice. Yeah that looks about the same height as mine, tyre looks like it's sitting right on the guard.

How did you get all of the air out? I'm guessing there's nothing you can do with the controller to get it that low again?

You can get it to deflate by altering the height controller rods to get it as low as possible, literally deflating the bags.

In my instance, I came back from a 4 week trip to find the whole car sitting on its ass!! Leak or something, accumulator failure after time etc...

This is the sensor rod in a Soarer, but it looks the same in the Celsior.

That's an awesome link, thanks Aaron! That guy got his Soarer way lower without even having a super lower mode!

I'll be giving this a go in the next couple of weeks.

i had a similar model controller

if i turned off the car and removed the key then hit one of the preset ride height buttons which i had the dials set at max low it would fully deflate at the front, looked cool, but would take 5m after you started the car before you could drive again

Andrew did you have similar problems with another controller or was that the only one you had?

Combined with the factory High/Norm switch in the cabin, you can pretty much make it Pose/Drive instead just by adjusting the rods. Of course, then there comes the time when you want to get the car up some ramps, or fit a trolley jack under it etc....

I'm thinking that I'll have it set so that when my controller is on 9-9 it's pretty much sitting on the ground. and when it's on F-F (the highest) with the High button pressed in the centre is will be at a level high enough to get up my driveway.

I need it at least the standard height to get up my driveway (because of my massive front spoiler) so I figure I can drop it another inch at least..

A decent height controller with the super low mode and memory should do the trick. You could , for example use setting 1 for cruising and then switch to setting 2 which will force the front end up say 3 notches and the rear 2. I am selling a high end controller.

Hey Rob,

How long does your controller take to start changing the height when you select a difference setting?

Also, have you changed the stock levels by adjusting the leveling rods because that sits pretty low!

Hav'nt changed the leveling rods. I have programmed one of the 3 pre programmable settings on my controller to the "super low mode". Once selected the bags basically deflate and to go from a normal driving level to "slammed" probably only takes a minute or so. The re inflation part takes a while though.

Would you mind listing your tyre size and your eyebrow height (centre of wheel to your guard) I'm just trying to figure out whether yours actually goes lower than mine or not. Looks like you might have 20s on it?

Haha, I know.. This is the third thread you've tried to sell it to me in!

Is there any delay between when you change the preset and when it starts going up/down?

My main gripe with mine is that it can take up to 2 minutes to even start the compressor..

I think it would be my controller because it starts straight away if I just flick the button to high in the centre console.

I'll keep thinking about buying your controller.
