Hello,
I have a UCF10 Celsior, and I'm getting TRC Error 19 - which is pump cycling too many times, i take it the gas has leaked out of the accumulator and it needs re gassing.
I haven't been able to get much information on how to go about this. I've been told they just unscrew using an oil filter wrench or similar, but it doesn't look that way on the Celsior. Mine has 2 Lines attached to it.
My accumulator is located on the passengers side, away from the master cylinder. One is a hardline that goes to the back of the accumulator, and goes all the way from there to the ABS unit.
The other one is a rubber line like brake hose that goes under the accumulator and connects to it, it seems to come from the pump which is next to it and goto the accumulator.
The accumulator itself has 2 valves which look to be like charging ports, one is a valve covered by a red boot at the back, and the other one is a valve or port covered by a black boot on the side of it.
From what I've read they can be removed by hitting the brake 50 times and then unscrewing it, but that might be for Soarers. On the celsior it's different, you have to remove those 2 lines, wouldn't the gas all just flow out?
Does it have to be regassed while on the car? as removing it will just empty all the gas out?

Is that the diagram for the Soarer or Celsior Dave.
The Celsior one is different, it does not screw on and it is not near the master cylinder but at the other side of the car.
It is clamped down to the body and has 2 lines attached to it, one that seems to be coming from the pump, and one that goes from the Canister to one of the ABS Units near the Air Filter.
I know on the Soarer it is to assist with the master cylinder, but on the Celsior it goes to the ABS Unit, so I have no idea about how to go about removing or getting it regassed/rebuilt?
Anyone had theirs regassed/rebuilt in their LS400/Celsior?

Its for a Soarer Boris , i see what you mean ..But i still think they feed and return fluid pipes? i have a us w/shop manual on disk somewere so best not to undo any thing just yet . Let me see if i can find some info.

Thanks for that,
I've looked for a return pipe for the nitrogen, I don't think I can see one, the bay is a bit crowded though.
It goes :
Pump----Accumulator-------------------------- TRC Unit.
Yeah it would be good if you can get some information from the manual, I'm pretty sure the US LS400's had Traction control as an option..... It should give some information on it.
I've also got that "Bird Chirp" type of noise on engine startup sometimes that Aristo owners talk about.... no idea what's causing it but it happened at the time that the TRC light began to stay on showing error 19.

Yeah I've never ever found out what makes the bird chirp, I would be thinking that on the Celsior it would come from the passengers side, but it seems to be coming directly from the dashboard.
I've never found out what causes the bird chirp, I just know it happens when the canister is low on gas
Is it a mechanical part that makes it or is there a chime or something?
Dave I'll email you, hopefully there should be some info on regas procedures, then I'll have to find somebody who has the correct hose/adapter to regas it.

I always thought it was the piston moving up/down. Normally, in a fully charged unit, there's very little pressure differential across the piston but when the nitrogen has decayed I'm not so sure. Also, Dave, in your first diagram, I think they have the piston and cylinder indications pointing to the wrong places.

I see what you mean Dave , but its the pumps piston and cylinder, never thought of marking the accomulator,it was sent from JP (Katsuji) That noise I have heard it on other Soarers and it sounds to me like it a bad elec relay contacks sort of arking for a split second. heres a thought Dave, if the n2 is leaking past the piston o rings then it must mixing with the brake fluid he he ..your thoughts ??

I thought the pump/accumulator does not have any brake fluid? or wait are we talking Soarer here.
I don't know how it works on the soarer, is it screwed directly into the master cylinder the accumulator?
As for that noise it doesn't sound like something electrical to me..... Maybe the pump might be making the noise but I can hear it like it's in the car.
I read those service instructions that you emailed me Dave, but no information about low nitrogen charge, or specs for re gassing.

Try to think of the accumulator as having a coiled spring not N2..switch on and the pump fills the accumulator pushing the piston back and compressing the spring , if you removing the accumulator now the spring would push out the fluid at HP
