Hey people I am getting my celsior tomorrow after trading with a friend for my modified Toyota 4x4.

I am thinking of putting on some 19 or 20 inch rims and was wondering how it would effect the fuel economy compared to the normal rims/tyres.

The celsior is my daily driver and I have to drive around 40km each way to and from work so dont want to be forking out 2 much $$ on petrol.

My other car is a close to 600hp R33 skyline which I race and doesent see the road much lately, hence why I bought the celsior

It won't. Tyre pressure will.

Buy the rims because you like them. Even if you made a 5% saving on fuel cost (which you will not) then you would have to drive over 150,000 Km to save $1,000 for wheels and you still have not factored in the cost of money. If you race a skyline then you already know about tyre pressures so keep them pumped up and find another excuse to spend.

What about the tyres rubbing on the guards while turning if I lower it further using the suspension controller????

Yes, what about it? I have to agree that lowering your suspension and driving in circles so your tyres rub on the guards will reduce your fuel economy. I have also observed that shooting oneself in the foot contains risk of personal injury.
Are you having us on here Denham?

If you are asking will the tyres rub, that depends on how wide they are as well as on your suspension height decisions. There are other threads on that general question.

?LOL!!!

I should have wrote that better.

I was thinking 8.5 inch wide with 235 on the front on the front and 9.5 inch wide with 255 on the back, both with +38 offset shouldnt rub the guards when turning, not going in circles?

Unfortunately I can not answer that one for you. Needs a Celsior owner. The sizes sound reasonable but I just do not know.

8.5" on the front with +38 offset is an invitation to scrubbing when lowered too far. Might even chew out a wiring harness like an unfortunate few have done with 20" wheels.

Where are some good places I can find some nice 19 inch deep disk chromies. I am after something a bit different to the Lowerhart type rims most celsior's have

Found some fabulous deep dish rims in 20 inch but offset +45. Will this offset cause the rims to sit 2 far into the guards or will it enable me to lower the car so the wheels tuck in nicely under the guards and wont rub the tyres?

Deep dish wheels + tucked inside the guards is not very VIP, so i wouldnt bother getting expensive Fabulous wheels if thats the look you are after. Might as well get some cheap chromies from Tempe Tyres!

I have 38 offsets on my 255 rears and they sit level with the outside edge of the guard (which sucks).

so +40 offset should be the perfect fit?

I can only find nice rims with +45 offset not +40

That 5 mm difference should make that much difference?

To get the flush look that you see on alot of the Japanese VIP cars, they use precise measurements, and a combination of Widths and Offsets.

The only problem is that the offsets that they usually go to are illegal in australia, and will get you castrated by other forum members... But if you want a conservative VIP look, this Celsior on the Fabulous site has 19x9 offset +36 and 19x10.5 offset +30 wheels
