Yeah I might actually. Its one of the nicest soarers ive seen Just looks perfect. When i show some people a soarer i tend to show them that one on as an example. :-)

Regarding the 149kms one he wanted $9500 no lower. Sounded like a really good Limited but its about 2k more than i want to spend... Ill look into the 179,000kms one and try for around 7000 or even try buy some other wheels (like stock TT ones) for it and get him down to 6500? Worth a try

Good call.
That's the only (Minor) thing I didn't like was the wheels, but TT wheels can be had for relatively little money, and you could probably flog off the after-market ones for a good profit

137,386 and yes. Supported by original Toyota service/log book.

The original NZ owner bought it for $38k(NZD) in 1997 with 27,473 on the clock.

Is that right... rather expensive. :-) Keeping in mind these were and still are (in Australia) expensive cars (can be in NZ occasionally) + they are awesome - worth every cent from my experiences with them...

How much did you pay for it if you dont mind me asking?

Did a straight swap for my 91 Mitsi GTO, which I'd paid $8.5k for.

Essentialy, it was a "Mates rates" deal with a friend of mine who owns a car yard here in New Plymouth.
The old feller who owned the Soarer traded it in at the local Holden dealer on a new Commie SS, and a Navara ute.
The Holden dealer only gave him $5k as a trade, and they in turn on sold it to me mate for $6k, then along came moi. And the rest, as they say, is history.

I did ring the old boy up, and asked him WTF he accepted so little as a trade. He said he was a bit miffed, but didn't really care, as he has wads of loot at his disposal (He's one of the local rich Chook farmers!).

He said that the reason WHY he sold it was, the car had just started getting "Blinki-dash", and he was concerned that it was going to cost HEAPS to fix, plus he thought it's gettin old, and what else would go wrong.

He just about had a fit when I told him that the Blinki only cost me $27.50 to repair.

The ONLY things that I've NEEDED to do since purchasing it are: Fuel pump ECU, Front shocks (As the LH one was just starting to seep fluid, and I see no point in just replacing one), new pads front and rear (Only because it had poxy Bendix pads that squealed like a bastard!), and front sway-bar bushes.

The other stuff that I did (Coz I could) were: Rack mounting bushes (Vlamos), Gold Lexus badging, woodgrain kit, Levoc shifter knob and H/brake lever, Lexus engine badge, TT wheels with Lexus center caps, new thermostat & O'ring, Toyota Red coolant, PCV valve & grommet...........

Haha. Some people have no idea. 5k trade in on a soarer as good as yours?? Thats Just pathetic! - I can see why you rang him up to ask what the story was.

Lol too many things going wrong with a uzz30? Thats laughable! blinky dash, some suspension parts and the odd electric fault is not really major - these cars are fine generally.. It just reflects a lack of knowledge about soarers by the previous owner of your car!

Regarding this soarer
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Toyota/photos/a-49377362/p-14049036.htm

I asked the guy selling it and hes after $7000 without the wheels but im sure i could get him down lower to around $6000-6500. From the pictures looks like its in better condition better than my old gold soarer!

When looking at the pictures i noted the steering wheel leather looks tidy and thats from the top + its got an airbag!
The gearshifter leather looks fine and also i cant see cracks on the air vent surround. Only problem is the "Touch screen needs clean behind safety glass for full operation" according to the seller. So Ill have a look at it tomorrow afternoon and see what condition its in. Ill even take some pictures to post up.

Sounds good Mike.
Ya gotta remember that for someone to have afforded a well option Ltd 6.5 years ago, they would have to have had a bit of dosh, and to get it serviced at Toyota on a regular basis would tend to indicate a careful "Older" owner. Which all bodes well for a successful outcome.

Does he still have the original wheels?.

ps: The original owner of our Soarer was the FIRST NZ member of the ALSC, so I guess he didn't stay active in the club enough to see that things could be repaired inexpensively.
Like the front shocks: O.E. quality KYB's for $37.63 + GST each (My price). Originals are Tokico, and are about $60 each inclusive from Toyota which is STILL not expensive to my mind.

Yeah Don, its always good to find soarers with one NZ owner owning one of the more expensive models. Plus one owner is a sign its been looked after evenly over part of its life especially since its been service at toyota Giltrap for 6.5 years.
