As this seems to be the "introductions" area I should also introduce myself: I'm a 32 year old Perth solicitor and have had my UZZ32 (#526) for only a few weeks (though I have followed Peter Scott's Planet Soarer and its predecessor on and off for some years). I decided it would make more financial sense to sell my highly modified WRX, piss most of the proceeds away on penny dreadfuls on Etrade and spend the rest on a Soarer

I will post a photo of the car later this week when the new wheels have been fitted!

This forum seems to be a fantastic resource for Soarer owners - thanks for having me!

OK, headers, twin exhaust and 19s are now fitted.

The car has been transformed! Will post a pic tomorrow. The exhaust note is one of the best I have ever heard from any V8, period. No drone whatsoever inside the car - and noise is vastly reduced with windows up. But open even one window slightly and the sound on accel/decel is mesmerising! I could not be happier with it.

$2700 inc freight from Tempe Tyres

Lowered it after these photos were taken - tyres sit in line with guards now! Looks great and no scrubbing other than a tiny bit when reversing full lock RH down.

It's at the panelbeaters today getting front & rear bumper resprayed - a few more pics to follow by the end of the week

i love these wheels so much i decided to buy them!

exhaust is brilliant! from behind looks factory except the oval tips are slightly bigger than the standard ones and they sit out a little further than standard. Exhaust note is awesome but I would say would be too loud for a lot of people - no resonators or balance pipe - only twin high flow cats and twin straight through mufflers joined by 2.5" mild steel pipework. The headers are not coated either which further adds to exhaust volume.

I think in a few weeks or so once some carbon starts to build up inside the pipes/mufflers/headers the sound will drop a bit but though. It's the perfect note - very deep and burbly under light accel (daily driving) but absolutely barks under heavy accel...just right!

one of the great things about these wheels is the offset (+45) which means they fit perfectly.

come with solid metal hubcentric rings to fit soarer hubs - they fit snugly and seem to work fine.

Well, +50 would be "perfect" but +45 isn't too shoddy either. Though Tamatha's wheels might not be the same.

lovely looking car mate!

and check out all the UZZ32 owners in here. we really are the soarer elite...haha i am so full of it.

as for UZZ32s driving on water, i'd believe that over one getting 600kms on a tank.

my modified 32 GTR burns about 22 litres/100kms (but it's tuned for circuit, and is run very rich) the soarer only does marginally better at around 17/100kms in all city driving!

Thanks Richard!

Quick update - front and rear bumper panel/paint is now all done! Lowered another inch or so.

What looked at first to be a major stuffup has actually turned out very well for me: my front bar was full of bog from accident repair - spraypainter did not want to touch it! So I bought sight unseen what was supposed to be a 1991 UZZ31 front bar from a Perth wrecker (read: SHARK!). I work in a busy practice and couldn't drive out to the stix to inspect it so I relied on wrecker's (SHARK!'s) advice that the front bar would fit a 1991 Soarer (he imports Soarer and therefore ought know the difference between 1991-1993 and 1994-1996 front bars - hell, I do!)

Panel beater takes delivery of the replacement front bar, preps, paints and then cannot fit it (due to fog light/turning light difference). So the wrecker had actually supplied a 1994 front bar!

Anyway, long story short - I got some suitable foglights on the same day and everything fitted perfectly. Car now looks amazing! Just need to "hook up" the foglights as the harness connections are different.

I'll take a few more pics and post this evening. Thanks for the compliments people!

All you need now is 94-96 rear lights.

It's very pretty though.

Mike - ride is very compliant but still very comfortable.

(though I have "graduated" from a WRX with 18s and SUPER LOW springs, so this is probably a very relative comparison!).

The Hankook Ventus K104 Sport tyres are great value for money - hardly any road noise and plenty of grip for such a hard compound tyre.

Since fitting the wheels and exhaust this car receives A LOT of attention.
I'm hoping that attention stays confined to enthusiasts and the 18-25yr old fillies and not the constabulary!

I'd love to fit an ECU mod to extract the most from the engine/exhaust/intake combination.
However, I've never been a fan of intercepters like the unichip...

Thanks for all the compliments lads!

Benny - I don't like the 94-96 tailights at all!

They look quite "ricey" too me.

Call me old fashioned but I personally prefer the classic '91-93 tailights.

Fair enough. Nice looking ride anyway.

Just thought you would want the rear that matched your front so you could say "fully upgraded to '94-'96 looks".

Pardon my indulgence with all these pics, but here's an updated one, only (visible) change is a half-inch lower at rear. The guards will need to be rolled to go any lower, so this is low enough for me. Ride is still, surprisingly, comfortable.

yeah it looks great, only thing is the passenger side headlight will NOT seat properly into the front bar (either with original '91 bar or this one) - probably because it's had a front end collision at some stage...

I've compared the LHS/RHS locating prongs and they seem to be fine.

I'll have another look at it today and see if I can persuade it to fit in there properly - the all purpose tool (hammer) is usually perfect for these jobs!

New plates...surprised they weren't already taken but then again, it's a rare model. I think the standard size plates would have looked better at the rear to fill up the large area.

I've also fitted some of Mark P's LED parkers and will post a pic later to show what they look like at nighttime. They look terrific IMHO, although they make the Narva (so-called) "Arctic Blue" globes look decidely yellow!

And I'm also happy to report that, after melting open, cleaning and resealing my headlights for the 3rd time, they now appear to be waterproof again

They project a *very* bright white light (compared to the factory parker lights or even those aftermarket blue wedge globes). As the pics show, the main headlights now look comparatively golden!

Highly recommended. These parkers would be a particularly good match with some quality HIDs or otherwise the G4 halogen globes.

Brenton/Don it's not the BEAM (although that's probably not assisting visual acuity!) . I think it's primarily the angle/lighting, but you're not just seeing things - the bumper is a fresh respray and therefore a tad brighter/lighter than the bonnet.

A shameless excuse to post yet another picture -

Feeling a bit depressed this morning - after a night of heavy rain my drivers side headlight has again got a bit of condensation in it - despite my best efforts to seal it. Maybe I should just start putting the car in the garage every night instead of being lazy...

Matt I can totally relate to your depression...it's very frustrating to spend all that time sealing these headlights only to find they still leak.

Peter's suggestion is a good one - check each of your light plugs to make sure they have a rubber seal as this is almost certainly an entry point for water/moisture.

Also, don't be shy with the sealant - I ended up using Sikaflex and though the edges of the lights look nasty now (who cares though) it seems to have worked well. Just be careful using that stuff - it is horrible to apply and is very difficult to remove - even from skin.

And if they have wee foam plugs in them.

Yup, rubber seals were there - might try putting a little vasaline on them to see if that helps. Was very careful with the silicon and pretty sure I sealed it good (it even looks OK!) yes, nasty stuff to get off the hands! It was a LOT of rain and only a little moisture in the light - it dried out during the day - and more rain last night, but light is clear today!

Got to pull it all out again soon anyway as I'll be doing a BFI in the next couple of weeks (figure if I do that at the same time as the cam belt I wont get in trouble for spending too much time on the car!)
