As the name sais, im after pictures of aftermarket, custom or bolt on, exhaust systems After pictures of the whole system, mainly from the cat back to the mufflers. Ive taken my car into a local exhaust place, and gotten a quote, they have asked me to try and get pictures of how the piping was routed, be it basically larger piping along the same lines of the standard system. Or a more direct system. So if you have and pictures of your own, or someone elses that would help me out immensly. Thanks in advance

mmm.no offense scott, but is sounds like the exhaust shop you took your car to is either run by monkeys, or dont know the basics of making 'performance' from any exhaust, so they follow other people with no sense of self experience knowledge..... (will post a pic soon though ) |

it was the only place open after christmas, for basic exhaust replacement there ok. But for performance as soon as i took the soarer in put it on the hoist and told him what i wanted, the questions started coming, over and over. No offence taken mate hehe. Il be taking it to a few other places to get a quote and rundown. I want to keep it as smooth flowing as possible, yet i dont want it to be sticking out like dogs B@!!s, like every subaru driving round u see, they scrap at the very sight of a bump haha Basically i told him i wanted from the downpipe flange 3 inch piping, then into a Y pipe into 2.5 inch piping into unknown mufflers. Will either be lukey or magnaflow oval mufflers, offset/offset?

4" ID into 2 x 2.5" ID Redback offset straight through mids Lukey offset straight through rear mufflers Use some redback mid mufflers if you're after a quiet system. Mine as shown above is not audible from the cabin below 3500rpm.

very nice. Stainless steel piping? Il be only running standard steel, but painted with high temp black. Cant really afford the cost of stainless. How much would a system like that cost to get made? Minus the 2 mid mufflers, im going to just run rear mufflers, but if its to drony il be putting in some hotdogs to reduce the drone. Im assuming your motor is pretty highly modified running 4 inch piping. For a near standard motor, which i plan to get steelwheeled and highflowed turbos along with dumps etc 3 inch would suffice?

Get the aluminium coated steel, last far longer than the bare mild steel. |

How long does it need to last though? Most exhaust pipes last pretty well as they dry out and don't collect moisture. The mufflers etc are what will rust as they do collect moisture more easily and don't dry out as quick.

ive been thinking. Seeing as i wont be getting dump pipes until im in need of getting the standard turbos highflowed and steelwheeled, im thinking of just running from the cat back. Then when i have gathered a bit more spare money and the turbos have a bit more Ks on them, as they only have 70,000 on them. I will then get dumps and highflow cat etc. What would the average cat back 3 to 2.5 exhaust cost with mufflers? Roughly 800?

Thanks Scott, mine set me back $1500. 3" mandrel off the stock dumps, 3" flex pipe, 3" mandrel to a 3"high flow cat, splits into twin 2.5" press bent piping, then two high flow red back mufflers. The tips I got were extra at $150 each (included in the $1500 price, but the muffs had no tips on them), some dual wall tip or whatever. Looked nice so I paid the price. Mine is all mild steel, metal cat catalytic converter, s/s flex pipe.

very nice, and on a silver soarer same as mine, or is that gold? 1500 is a bit steep for me at the moment, still paying of a few other things that i loaned money of the folks for. Looks like il be aiming for a catback system for now then. I contemplated making my own system, as we have a welder at work which i can use quite well. Would then just need the mandrel bends and some straight steel pipe. But its a matter of time, would be much easier to get someone else to do it HAHA

mine is a gold one mate I guess $800 sounds ok? I paid $400 for a single 3" press bent cat back with a super cat cannon a whiles ago now. so i guess $800 for a twin system sounds reasonable

got a pricing back on from the exhaust shop. 1700 for 3 inch mandrel bent from standard downpipe, into 3 inch cat (unknown brand), then 3 inch back to the split which then it will be 2.5 inch out to twin magnaflow mufflers. This is all mandrel bent, and standard steel. Kinda steep i thought, considering its a unknown cat etc.

I just got a quote for exhaust on my twin turbo. 3" from turbo, 3"flex, 4" hi flow cat then split into 2.25" with hotdogs and mufflers, can't remember the exact specs of the mufflers though. $1800. The dude has a supercharged falcon ute making 400 rwhp with a similar setup and said the system he has quoted on will last through any future engine upgrades. In other words its overkill at the moment but won't have to change if I get carried away with mods. Its pretty dear but I like his work. Haven't decided on tips but the quote includes $140 a side for dual tips. Don't know if I like the quad exhaust look yet. I've got a bit of time to think about it though coz I have a bit of saving up to do. Incey Incey

ok ive found this system locally for a cheap price, should be able to get it for about 300ish. Downside in my opinion is that its a single output pipe Do you think it would be possible to split that system and make a twin out of it? Its basically a cat back. heres some pictures Whats everyone think?

if you still want to get your mate to make it for you, 304 stainless is fine and just order tube because pipe will weigh a ton and be over kill. but you may need to flare the end to meat the mufflers as most tube is measured from the OD but for some reason exhaust tube uses the ID. best of luck Matt

brian...is that a reducer pipe coming off the 3" into that 'Y' pipe? and those bends near the rear mufflers are awfully tight. What does it sound like?

Its not a reducer, the resonator before the Y pipe is just really fat, so it looks pretty small. Its 3" in and 2.5" out. And the bends arent too bad in real life. Here are a couple sound clips. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/1JZ-swapped-SC300_172422.htm http://videos.streetfire.net/video/1JZ-SC-part-2_195588.htm
