This morning I fired up the soarer to warm up as i usually do,to my HORROR its struggled after start, lame idle and a loud tapping sound.
This smoothed out after a few moments but scared the F@#k out of me,so i shut it down.
No warnings appeared,system check normal.
Possible contributers;
Beforehand it hasn't run for 3 days ,also this tank of gas is regular after i couldn't obtain the usual premium.
I realise could be any number of things but I appreciate any advice offered.
Thanks

3 days of inactivity and regular petrol would not cause it to run that badly.

A starting point would be to start it again, and look/listen under the bonnet to get a better idea of what is actually happening, then take it from there.

Thanks guys,
Just fired her up then.
Much better,no tapping or clacking this time, however she doesn't feel like her normal self.
Not as smooth, somehow louder and tending to resonate just under 2000rpm.
Also exhaust seems overly rich.(smells).
Checked under bonnet,all seemed intact.
Took gently round the block, apart from symtoms above seems o.k.
Hoping might be simply replacing plugs ,leads..

Try the coil packs. one of them could be faulty. Check the plugs and the leads as well. Also maybe an ECU re-set and see if that makes any difference.

Are you using the correct weighted oil, too thin?

oil may have seeped into the chambers through the valves over the period of time and making the car not igniting the fuel properly?

Cheers fella's.
Ultratune brookvale ran a dagnostic check over her today.
They couldn't find what could have caused it,but suspect it was bad batch of fuel.
Seems to be okay after some octane boost.
NB: Last fuel uplift was at Shell Mosman/Cremorne.

If it was the Shell on Military Rd, their fuel seems to be cheaper than most places in that area. Maybe when you filled up, it was cheap for a reason
