Hi all, serious problem with what i'm sure is going to be a simple solution. Ok just bought the car. Power windows don't work. So I did the usual tested the rest of the drivers side unit, nothing works. Tested the passenger side window, no joy. Took out the drivers unit. tested if there was power, there was power. took the unit apart, unit had power inside... so next took the power unit out and replaced it with one I knew worked. Still no joy. Back to the drawing board. Give the power windows direct power. Success! With a catch, now I know they work the problem is somewhere else. I just have no idea now where to look??? any suggestions?? Hopefully this has happened to someone else.

Nothing there listed under that Peter. I did look there when I first joined. Maybe it was removed??

Hi, just looking at your info. also check that section of the wiring in case of issue. But all clear and had power as well, so this could not have been the issue.

I will note one thing to keep you interested, cause I can't work it out. I was told the windows worked ever now and then, I too had them work once for about 3 seconds but then it did not work again. So somewhere in this info lays a solution. If you can think of one. sing out, thanks.

Still there.

Not quite sure what you are saying, but you might have power, but faulty switches or broken wires taking the power from the switches.

Broken door wires would match the "work once" comment if the wires just happened to touch.

Perhaps check to see if you are explaining it clearly?

Craig,

Have you checked there is power via the door loom? If so is the earth for that loom functional? (ie: properly secured to the body work etc; wire is in good condition with no breaks?

It would appear you have ruled out faulty drivers switches by changing for a known good module, and by getting it to work via direct power supply. Did you do this for the switch on the passenger side? If the passenger side is missing or faulty I found the whole system will not work.

It sounds to me that you now have just got to work back from the switches until you find the problem. It has to be in the loom somewhere. Have a look in the area between the door and body as this is a bit of a 'wear area'. Then check the plugs in the junction box to the right of the accelerator in the drivers foot well.

Will look into the loom more but have, checked there before. Maybe need to take a closer look.

By power sometimes. I mean the windows actually went down about 10cm's then stopped working then I got them to go back up but they have not worked again since. Pervious owner said they also worked sometimes. which makes me think it is an earth problem. I just don't know where to look! Will look into the loom and post findings. thanks.

I'll have a look at the wiring diagram after the kids go to bed, and see what I can see.

Earth is usually white with a black stripe in the Soarer, and it definitely is in the door Harness. The wire runs right back through the junction box near the accelerator area to an earth point up under the dash- on the right side of the body.

There is a second earth point in the system on a vertical bar on the trans tunnel that runs up under the dash behind the radio/AC.

Power is supplied via a blue wire.

I have to say compared to my Wife's Nissan, the Soarers junction box is very easy to work out! It was so much easier installing a security system into the Soarer than it was the Nissan.
