My 92 V8 LTD overheated and appeared to crack a head, tried chemicals but these only lasted a short while so purchased another engine. This was a 95 MY from a big Lexus. I was told it was the same.
After changing most bolt ons it was in the car but on starting found the engine to be in limp mode.
It has an EMV screen and I scanned the ECU OK and CD-ROM = OK but a dash message that I can't read (in white) appears and the a/B lamp flashes. With the engine running I get a red ECU problem message in the dash.
The ECU EMV display shows numbers 02 01 04 01 01 and the CD-Rom page has E6 E8 E8 E8 EC with the number 39
I took the car to an auto elect with a scanner and he read error code 14 Ignition Signal (IGF1) but has no idea what this means and the manual does not help.
The new engine is running the old engine loom, ecu, induction system, coils, crank sensor, temp senders, oxygen sensors.
I have run out of ideas. Any suggestions. I would have sold it but my wife loves it.
regards

Did you swap the injector rails as well ???
Because in 94 the cold start injector was removed..(You can tell from the round fuel rail)
95-95 there was a short run on different things..BUT,,you seem to have swapped over a fair bit of sensors.
14 from memory has something to do with Cam Sensor (Will check in the morning)

Whats a/B lamp ???

CD-Rom is the Sat Nav..Forget checking that.

Forget all this as well
The ECU EMV display shows numbers 02 01 04 01 01 and the CD-Rom page has E6 E8 E8 E8 EC with the number 39

Bridge E1 & Te1 on the Diag conector on engine..
Turn Key ON
Press SCROLL button dash (Next to Trip meter button)
Will come up ECU NG
Sit there and watch it for a few minutes..Tell me the numbers from that display.

Thanks Neil this is great info. Yes swapped the fuel rails as there was no way to others would fit, the lines to the tank exit alongside the transmission.

Error code 14 is the IGF1, or Ignition Feedback on Bank 1 of the engine. The ECU expects to see a signal returned on the IGF1 circuit everytime it sends a signal out on the IGT1 (which is sent to the No 1 igniter, the igniter does it's job and sends back a signal when it knows that the engine has cranked. At least this is my understanding of what happens, I'd love someone to correct me if I'm wrong.

This page has more detail on the V8 diagnostic system, perhaps might help you.
