After 5 years of Soarer ownership, I've decided to sell the old girl trade 4 wheels for 2.
She was purchased Friday night by a new member here, Eric Lam, who will hopefully learn as much as I did from the experience.
I definitely wouldn't have been able to maintain a 20 year old import GT without the help I've had through the members on this forum and I would like to say a big THANK YOU to you all!
With running costs going up, other priorities on the horizon and a more practical daily driver required, it was time to sell but hard to let her go all the same.
Here's the new pride and joy:
Still on my P's but already itching to find something bigger... maybe a touring bike... but this thing is still great fun around town.
Cheers everyone. I'll no doubt be back here at times to contribute whatever I can.

Soarers are fantastic cars, but they are getting expensive to run, especially compared to their current value.
I disagree. My 500hp barge needs little more than regular servicing and tyres.
You'll find cheap soarers that have been neglected take a large input of time and money to bring them up to scratch, but find a well looked after one that's been cared for then you'll likely have very few issues.

After the things I've seen on the road, Including a good friend, while on his bike, get hit by an inattentive driver about 5 meters away from me, I will never ride a bike on a public road.

Yeah, they really will give a licence to any muppet these days.. You have to have eyes like dinner plates in traffic.. Being a bike rider does make you a much more aware car driver..

Nice bikes there, Tai. I think I've been lucky so far - no problems with the law .

Yeah I did the P's course for the bike in the same week as doing a truck license - both instructors hammered me about thinking ahead and being aware. I reckon you become a better driver too, after learning to ride on the road.
Another interesting thing I've noticed: People look at you differently on a bike. There seems to be a general respect for riders in the community. In the Soarer, I could tell people were looking at me like I was a hoon or they were jealous they couldn't afford a Lexus (not that that really bothered me ).

Nice motard Tai! what did you get caught doing?
I'm restoring an '84 XR500 which I ride to work/ uni, havent got a fine yet (touch wood!)
I usually wear a garish high vis jacket, I look like a tool but it really helps people seeing me on the road. I've had to throw kicks out the side of the bike in traffic when retards try merging into me

I agree with Dan. No more expensive than an Ozz car if its in good nick when purchased. My 1st one I have had for 8 years, and has been no more costly than some of my other cars. I hope the one I have now is as good as the last one. Have had my share of bikes over the years, just ask my missus

Yeah I picked up a pretty good one and haven't had many issues. Pwr steering pump was already done, alternator and a few other things so just has a small oil leak I need to fix and really have had no other issues.
I agree with Dan, clean, looked after examples are hard to come by. A few weeks ago I found a 94 pearl white UZZ31 in mint condition, owned by an elderly lady, around 70 years old. The car was seriously clean and I am kicking my self for not getting her number because she was looking at selling it!
